Ben's Tank

Ben my tourch dont come out any more ??? any ides why? i duno my water qualty at the min but hasnt changed much part from my phsothates are little high but they always are

Thanks guys....i love the wrasse too.
Its a Mccoskers flasher, he was quite hard to find, then i went to pick up my halide from the bloke i bought it from. We met at Wharf aquatics in Nottingham and they had 3 in. If anyones around that area its well worth a look. He was only £20 aswel. He flashes his fins a lot too, all the time he is feeding and whenever else he fancies. Everyone comments on his colours when they see the tank.

Barney.
Yeah i have a phosphate remover in, i change it the other day. Since then its starting to decrease. Having all the flow back seems to be helping too. Cant believe i didnt realise it wasnt plugged in right. Pffft

Gary.
My torch doesnt like much flow, thats the only place it would fully open in my whole tank. Theres hardly any flow there at all. It seems to really like the light though. It doesnt open aswel when my halide is off.

nice pics ben, your wrasse is lovely! That Chateo should make a diference although your sand is not that bad.

Are you planning to have a refugium?

Im just having sort of a DSB and the cheato in the middle section of the sump. No special area as such. Will see how it goes. I dont have much room in the cabinet for a seperate refugium
Cheers

Dwarf angel seems to be getting more confident today. Hes got a really nice blue top round his tail and orange rings round the eyes. Sets him off quite nice.
Corals look Huge today too, will take you some more pics once i can clean the gass without my hands stinging.

Hey guys, il take you some pics today.

Got a couple of questions for you though.

1.) i could do with increasing the water volume a bit. I am a bit overstocked fish wise, but i am seeing no aggression problems at all so at the miunte i dont really want to move any fish on. I want to move on to some more difficult corals and a clam. Only thing is i am limited on space in the cabinet so any ideas?

My first thought was to get a slimline water butt and stick it next to the cabinet, have the tank overflow into the butt and then again back to the sump. Then add a few egg crate shelves with live rock on them and some serious flow.

2.) Views on phosphate and nitrate reactors? anyone with DIY plans? Gary showed me his :good: i am just unsure what to look for. Are they needed on small-ish tanks?

Ok glass is clean, just gotta wait for corals to re-open now after light was off for a while. Hopefully be before th football :p

Well, if you're not having aggression problems, don't have issues with nitrate/phosphate, and don't have nuisance algae growth, technically you're not really overstocked. Experienced aquarists can accomplish "ovestocked" tanks like this. Do remember though that aggression issues can develop as fish age...

Here we go then :)

Really want to up my coral collecton soon, just got too many ideas going round though. Cyano seems to have been beaten and really started to vanish. Just one or two areas where its still noticable. I think this will be taken care of once i get the cheato gary is kindly sending me :good:

Dont knowhow i got this one, he was having a mad minute and zooming round in streamline mode

My nitrates had snook up a bit recently &i was struggling with algae too. So i decided on a large water change and to take my 3 chromis in. The first two were caught by my GF within 5 mins. Then the 3rd...well its took all day to get the tank sort of ok again. I ended up taking all the fish and corals out with the rock and starting from scratch.

Though i had lost my blenny, couldn’t see him anywhere. But he showed up. My wrasse is now in a foul mood. I have wet carpet. The rooms like a bomb site.

Not happy with the rock scape at all, but it will do...for now. Then one of my cheapo powerheads decided to break, lesson to all people setting up a tank. Buy good in the first place! Ordered a pair of new ones to be delivered on Monday. Koralia one and two. Going to keep my other cheapo one as that seems fine. Il have 5300L/H Flow then. 44X turnover :good:

Pics in a day or two, my acro frag seems o have come off worst.

i'm in love  with your Wrasse - a great video showing him displaying.
