Bad Water Change

I think it all sums up to you should have been paying attention to what you were doing and if you were drunk or had a few drinks you shouldn't have done a vacum cleaning.

To be fair, I don't think he was drunk while vacuuming.

Let us know how your fish is doing. I've accidentally sucked up a guppy. I was watching but he just got to close. So it does happen, although IME only once in 2 years.

I was starting to wander about what he was saying but BIGFISH and houndour have both had this experence, and maybee he's gone down the pub to think how to coax it out? We hope!!!

I think he said it was alive inside the pipe which was in the water right, and has also travelled most of the way to the other end so fingers crossed it migt be out by now!!

Ok im back home now. First off FATTYs FREE! I came home and he was a bit further down. So I sortve filcked the tube an tapped it on the side an he came out quite easily an hes swimming round fine. Ive fed him an he ate. I wasnt neglecting him i jus didnt want to damage him an its worked out ok.
An the questions:
Yup quaterlly means 4 times a year
hes not that big, the hoovers 3-4 inch accross hes jus bigger than a golf ball!
I feed him general stuff like pellets, bacon bits an crisps etc
I wasnt drunk doin the change, my cat was tryin to get in there with em an i lifted it out of the gravel as i was fightin him off an somehow caught fatty. Didnt see him go in tho he was prob chasin food
An i do care he is a v cool fish but forcing him out or cuttin wouldve hurt him
Hes a happy chappy now anyway so thanx for the input!
PS im not a pro fishkeeper (u might have guessed) but puttin vaseline in there sounds iffy i dunno if id recommend that its petroleum based.
BUT...KY jelly...thas a whole different kettle of fish

Oh my gosh!!! 4 times a year!!! Your supposed to do it at least once a month and since you have goldfish you should do it every two weeks.

It was a last resort the vasaline, and you can use it on fish, fish keepers put it open wounds to give the fish a pretective layering or barrier, I thought it would of slided the fish out, better than leaving it there stuck in a tube to suffer with stress and let it die, I thought if it was swollen and stiff i might help slide the fish out, so don't critise advice when you couldn't be bothered to try it.

Well ive had all 3 of em for a cpl of yrs, my mate had em before me but they werent in very good shape an i pretty much started tryin em on all sorts of stuff straight away. Yeah he (and the others but more fatty) loves soggy crisps an loves a bit of bacon too. The rind finely chopped i mean. Hes not really fussed on flake an will take crisps first. He does like pellets tho.Sometimes small pieces of peperammi an broken up pork scratchings even!.I have a plec in there that i feed cumcumber an peas an he sometimes eats that too. And the water change situation ive always done quarterly. I have a cpl of fluval 4 pluses in there as well as the UG so it looks after itself.

Oh and Wilder Im sorry i didnt realise vas was used to treat ill fish i jus would have thought it was toxic. My apologies, I stand corrected

Ive just returned to this topic and on the one hand Im glad he ios free but a water change every 3 months is FAR too little, Id hate to see you water stats!!

As for what you feed the fish, that is simply terrible. Some fish might not be keen on flake, I never use it but I have 10 different types of food for my fish from pellets to prawns but bacon and crisps is just stupid.
PORK SCRATCHINGS??......the salt content alone would be dangerouse, I suggest you feed you fish like a fish instead of like a pub dweller on giro day!

i'm pretty sure that feeding a fish items with a fat content.. crisps.. bacon.. pork scratchings.. will kill them!! if you feed them beef heart you remove any trace of fat!!!
