Ati Radeon?

Ok, a bit more info needed,

What slot does your motherboard have, PCI-E or AGP? It does make a difference what chipsets you can get on each.

Do you have the motherboard manual? Or atleast do you know the make and model of the motherboard?

Also how old is your PC and do you know what CPU it uses (might be able to make an educated guess from that)...

AGP slots are (normally) longish brown slots.

PCI-express (PCI-X) slots are normally white slots which look like regular PCI slots but are longer.

I don't know....how do i find out?

It probably is a PCI-EX16 slot given it's one of the newer Ati chipsets.

This picture shows some of the common slots on modern motherboards.

This picture shows an AGP socket. They were often brown in colour but not always, go off the shape. The easiest way to tell is where the keyed slot divider comes on the slot, on the PCI-E card it is much closer to the end of the socket than on AGP where it is almost in the middle.

Alternatively you should look in the manual that came with your motherboard if you installed it yourself, or your pc which should tell you what the motherboard is and what slot it has for expanding the graphics.

Looks like mine has the PCI express x16 slot. It has three of the traditional slots and then the longer x16. OK now thats out of the way now what?

Go back to my post on page 1 - both of those cards are PCI Express...

Is there a big difference between the x1550 and the x1650. I can get the x1550 from ebay for like $80 and even less if i go with the 256mb. The least i can find the x1650 for is about $115.

Not sure.... but I would recommend going for 512MB especially if you play alot of 3d games...
