Arrowana's

Yep, theres a few members (including myself) who keep them.

ok then thats good,

looking for info on how best to keep them ,from owners :D
which i think is better ,than something quoated if you know what i mean

First off which species are you considering?

Depending on which country you live in there are 3 main species available.

The most common but unfortunately the largest growing is the silver arowana which can easily reach 3 feet in captivity if kept properly. My silver grew from around 6-7" to 2 feet within 8 months.

The next most common is the jardini arowana, sometimes sold as Pearl arowana's. These dont reach the same sort of sizes as the silvers usually topping out at 18-24" but once they are over a foot become unholy terrors which will tear all but the toughest of tankmates to bits, in the aggression stakes they make most Central American Cichlids look like mollies.

Then you have the Asian arowana's, these are illegal in the USA but are fairly easily obtainable in Europe and the UK. They grow to about the same size as jardini's but have less of an attitude, though they are a lot more expensive than other species.

All arowana's require excellent water quality and will quickly go down hill if water changes and regular maintainance of the filters arent carried out, i do 40% changes every week and will do smaller changes during the week if i find myself with a spare couple of hours.

Can I just point out there's no apostrophe in the plural of arowana. It's one arowana, or a group of arowanas. Feel free to use the apostrophe if talking about something belonging to the arowana, e.g., my arowana's aquarium.

Cheers,

Neale

PS. If English isn't your first language, or you're still at elementary school, then please accept my apologies for this criticism of your English. I'm utterly useless at foreign languages, and doff my cap to anyone who manages to learn one.

People don't like lazy spelling and grammar. Getting an apostrophe in the wrong place can completely change the meaning of a sentance. A number of people on this board have little time for people whose first language is English yet cannot be bothered to try and write it properly.

Typos, and people with obvious disadvantages (such as English not being a first language or having a conditions such as dyslexia) are not jumped upon as that would be unreasonable.

and how do you know if the person typing has dyslexia or not?... they meant to advertise it in they're sig or something just to stop people jumping down they're throat about it :/

What about people that put a 's' where it doesn't belong? Where do they stand?

Don't bash someone else's grammar unless your grammar is stellar.

P.S. I agree with the original poster... this forum is about fish, not grammar... if you don't understand what he is getting at (which you obviously did understand) tell him you don't understand or don't post at all!
