No, as with gardening nothing ever stands still in a fish tank. Fish come, whether you put them in yourself or as a happy surprise... they grow and sadly, they die and not always leaving behind convenient numbers of their species. The same goes for plants, some will grow rampant then others will be decidedly lacklustre or die off despite best efforts.
But for me that's what makes it addictive. Like my garden it will never be perfect. Something that looks great when you put it in can look awful after a fortnight, other stuff looks great once it has had time to bed in... but I get a lot of enjoyment from trying!
