no sense at all, in my opinion a fish that reaches 18" plus needs more than 18" space. Imagine if you were say 6ft and some one said you had to live in a box 24 ft long but only 5ft high and 5ft wide....

I've seen many cats that like to rest vertically not just horizontally too.

1 x lima shoval nose - IMO get too big for an 18" wide tank

Be very careful mixing catfish - they can be very territorial - my 18" clarias has killed other bottom dwellers including a 14" Gibbiceps.

Why is a lima too big considering they only get to 16" and rarely past 12" in even a large setup?

Also I'm not suprised a 18" Clarias is aggressive, They are an aggressive catfish species at the best of times

im confused what to do now

from 'seriously fish' - "Considering it can reach almost two feet in length a tank with a footprint of at least 84" x 30"/210cm x 75cm is advisable. Height is also important due to this species' tendency to swim with an oblique, head-down posture. 24"/60cm is perhaps an adequate minimum. It's worth noting that a tank with these dimensions would hold almost 950 litres of water."

I think if you could get an adult - known to be fully grown at 12-14" then it would be ok - just but I still think it is an absolute minimum space for a fish that size and I know that personally I wouldn't be happy with keeping one in an 18" wide/deep tank.

Yes clarias can be aggressive - mine is aggressive only to other bottom dwellers though and this can be a trait many catfish share.

sorry you said if i could get a adult known to ne that size (which one lima or perruno)

lima

I've personally seen a perruno at 18" not including whiskers which were about another 6"+.

oh ok thanks well i can get a adult known to be that size

so the perruno if i got a adult known to be a certain size under 18 inches would it be ok

think you'd struggle to get an adult perruno at that small size unless it was stunted.

oh ok thanks

ok just got a new tank for it

its 9ft long 3ft front to back and 32inches high

so with the stock i said already

what others can i have

oh im so excited
