Aquaclear setup Qs

that's obvious, considering substrate and other solids in the tank

About the flow, that's not what I meant. Flow doesn't matter in this situation, in a not overwhelming sense

Not that you said what you actually meant then. Filter stuff can be confusing.

Another obvious thing, I have a hydor canister filter for my sixty five, works miracles and it does "what it says"

As for your filter, glad it works for you. What I meant is actual flow with the filter filled with media. They mostly test them empty and give you that flow. Most do not test with media in them, not to mention canisters are very customizable. So unless you've tested it yourself, you don't know you are getting what it says it is. That's all I'm saying.

I am not failure with the filters you guy are talking about but I would look for a filter with an adjustable valve or can be adapted so that one can be installed on the outflow. That would allow you to adjust the flow downto suit your fish or move more water around if you decide you want more flow.

If you like bubbles you might want the outflow to go into a pipe positioned 1/2" ore more above the water. The falling water would pull air down into the water one or two incase below the water surface. How fast the air is pushed down will depend on the flow.

Thanks Steven. But I'm definitely going with the aquaclear which I can adjust the flow of.

I just think for me I can clean these way easier and enjoy the tank more. Anyway my questions have been answered so thanks everybody for chipping in!

The Aquaclear does this by adjusting the position of the inlet tube over the impeller which reduces input/output by recirculating/re-filtering water. The new Seachem Tital also has adjustable flow.
