I plan on getting some corydoras when my 475 liter tank is ready to go. I know they need alot to be happy, but do they need to be the same species? Will I be able to mix a few species together or do I need 4-6 of each different kind?

You're better off having at least five or six of each species, IMO. Different species will mix, but only as a sort of 'last resort', as it were.

Which are best? Around here we have peppered, a few albino and panda but at a store out of town ( if they could somehow live two hours in the bag unless I have to make something to add air ) there is a larger variety to chose from

Pandas can be quite sensitive, so need mature, stable tanks. Peppereds tend to like lower temperatures, around the 22-24°C mark.

Fish will easily manage being bagged for two hours; how do you think they get to your LFS?! Just tell the person bagging them that you have a longer journey and make sure they use a large bag; some shops may offer you 'bag buddies' or oxygen, but they're not needed for a two hour journey :good:

I got two stores here, but both charge more then where I got my setup from. Neon Tetras for example are $5/each while at the chain store, its half price and I was able to get 10 for $25 if I wanted to. I'd just rather not spend the money in gas to arrive home and see some of my stock was dead. Here I've only seen the three choices for Corydoras, while at the chain store they had tanks of different breeds

I like to keep 4 of a kind. As long as they are around other Cory cats they are happy. They do like their own kind but will and do enjoy swimming with other kinds. Mixing 4 of one kind with 4 of another kind works well for me.
