Aim Versus Msn

I didn't see it anywhere so I was just wondering how many people use AIM or msn messenger. I use aim but have never used msn. My sn is atmmachine816 if anybody wanted to IM me but what's the difference between aim and msn?

I kinda use both services, because unfortunately a few of my simple mates are still using AOL, but I wouldn't have any AOL software on my computer, so I use Trillian. It allows me to use MSN and AIM at the same time through one interface. Also has some other nice plugins and the best bit, It's not AOL or MSN

MSN. Can talk to people with yahoo using windows live messenger .

Trillian also does Yahoo, ICQ and jabber and it can also do IRC for chatrooms AND a plugin allows RSS too

There may be a better package out there, but I've not looked as it does all I want.

Yahoo do an Instant messenger program similar to AIM, there is also another called ICQ and another called Jabber (which Google use for their system), add them to AIM and MSN and then think that they don't talk to each other and you have a mess.

So if you use AIM and I use MSN, we can't chat to each other, same as if you have AIM and I have ICQ.

But with a program called Trillian, I can use MSN, AIM, Yahoo, ICQ and Jabber all at once (though I need accounts for them all)

Does that make sense?

I downloaded it once because I use Aim, MSN and Yahoo, but it took too long to start up. So I just use all 3 seperatly and it works fine for me. I'm not usually talking to people on all 3 at the same time anyways because most of my friends use Aim(I have 108 contacts), only a few use msn(I have 8 contacts) and only 3 use yahoo.
So...
