I am looking for plants native to the Amazon River. However they must also be strong plants that could withstand being in a tank with a Leporinus fasciatus I have been told this fish might be ok with tougher plants that it would not try to eat. I figured a good place to start was to look into creating a biotope for the fish. The fish has eaten water sprite if that makes any difference

Does anyone have any experience with these plants, or any other suggestions that fit my needs

One website also said java fern would work
Here is the web site where some of my ideas are coming from

The sword plants are fought plants. They have a strong root system. I abused mine so bad and after some extra care has come back. They are a great plant and hardy. My Festivum loves to eat plants and he was not to bad with the sword. I had java fern it grows way too slow. I'm not a fan.

Pennywort is awesome another hardy plant that just needs a little love to grow back from near death. I have this plant with small fish in high light and co2. It grows like a weed. If you lived close I would give you some. This plant could easily take ove the right tank.

I would get a big sword plant if I were you.

All will flourish and are easy to keep. The star grass tends to break off in a current but the separate bits just keep growing. It's like a weed!
