During My SPCA days, a lot of these were brought in by the public, found in their gardens busy digging up their flowers.... We used to keep them till we had about 10 and then release them as a colony far away from the residential area.

Anybody ever kept any as pets??

it's like a gremlin, look cute as a button but feed it after midnight............

cute lil hedgehog x

I think my sister was pestering my dad for one of those in favour of a hamster... lol. To be fair to her I took in a hamster from a friend who lives oversees (just over the summer months whilst he's back home) and she's looked after him perfectly and hasn't gotten bored as I'd expected her too after a few months.

Those hedgehogs are rather cute.

Before I studied music and became a singer, I wanted to study biology. So much so that I interned at Miami Metro Zoo during my senior year in high school. One of my many duties there was to maintain the hedgehog enclosure. I adored the pair we had, tooo cute. I love their little faces. I have seen African hedgehogs on occasion in the more specialty pet shops in Miami, but Miami likes to deal in exotics. Give it a couple more years, we'll have a breeding population of those too.

My local pet shop is breeding them! Adorable, I'd have one but they are around £150 (African Pygmy Hedgehogs, are they the same?)

In groups of 10 you say? Is that how they live in the wild? Because theres some debate here about whether you can keep them together or not.
