adopt a cull?

so besides the fry issue, a betta should be ok with platies in a 55 gallon?

the fry are growing quick, although i can quarter them off untill they are big enough to be with the betta.

does this sound good?

A Betta should be fine with Platys. It's the size of the tank that concerns me more, I would keep an eye on him and make sure he isn't overwhelmed by the size. If he's fine then great! If not, be ready with a smaller tank just for him.

I'd love to have one! but unfortunately I don't really have the money to pay for shipping :( If any time you take a trip to Nova Scotia.... lol
It's a really good idea Wuv, do you have any pictures of some??

I think it is a great idea, how much is the shipping? I just learned that my betta is blind I wondered why he never flared or anything, and he's been n the tank with his lady for a couple months now she's his eyes. I wondered why when i removed her he wouldnt eat, now I know he follows her to the food it's very unique. So that proves SPECIAL NEEDS bettas can have just as productive lives when given the chance.
That's soooooo sweet... :shifty: Kinda like my fiance and me! I tell him I'm hot and he turns the fan on, I tell him I'm thirsty and he gets me something to drink, I tell him I'm hungry and he hunts and gathers....   That's why he doesn't know what to do w/ himself when I'm not around?!?!

j/k ... don't tell him I said that :p :fun:

I'd love to take one... as long as shipping to Ottawa is reasonable... or, what if we can find enough people in Canada willing to take culls, maybe we could send a bunch in one box and send it to a central location, and then distribute from there? I don't know if this makes it any cheaper, I have never shipped fish before...

FWIW ... www.bidafish.com has this section for anyone that wants to use it to find homes for their culls.
Right on, I have some up and coming I'm sure *cough DT's cough*

Love your member title :p

Eeeeeeee! I've been busy lately and haven't had time for the forum, so I might be getting in on this a little late... but this is a WONDERFUL idea!! What better way to "cull" fish than to give them to good homes? :D
I just sectioned off a 10 gallon to house some of my babies, so I've got several empty 1 and 2.5 gallon tanks they left behind that I could put new fish in... I could easily take two or three, and would happily pay shipping.
I've got a special place in my heart for the gimps. My first betta ever was missing an eye, and right now I have one with no ventrals. The vast majority of my bettas are from Walmart, so that should tell you something

Be sure to let me know when that happens ;)
At this rate I'll be splitting up another 10 gallon in no time! *lol*

Wuv, I just saw your auctions on www.bidafish.com... you're in Texas?!?
What part, if I may ask? I'm in east Texas, near... well, I'm not near any particularly large cities actually, but Tyler is a couple of hours away.

I'll take any orange one. Something that looks like a goldfish. Doesn't have to be a specific finnage. Veil is fine. Just as long as he's orange.
