adopt a cull?

 you need to get them some of those huge black shades and a walking stick thing.
And a seeing eye dogfish

But seriously,it sounds like a great idea and probably most folks would be willing to pay for shipping.

as far as choosing the proper home, you'd have to use your best judgement on that one............ you can tell a great deal about how people care for their fish, how much time they have, the effort they'd be willing to spend, based on thier posts and whatnot.......... you could come up with a series of questions regardign that particular betta's care that you'd pm to potential adopters, do a followup with them and then decide who gets it. thats how the dog/cat rescue group i work with does their adoption process to ensure the animal is going to a good home....... sounds like a big process but you ARE worried about them going to homes where they will receive the proper care.......
That' exactly what I'm looking for! The only thing I'm scared of is...I'm terrible about answering pm's :*) I guess I'll have to change that nasty little habit, huh? Or I can pin a thread and review whoever is interested that week.

I'm glad you guys are all for it  Let me get some small shipping bags and we'll start right away.

For those who said they'd pay for shipping, that is completely awesome with me,this way you can instantly put dibs on the one you want and it's yours, case closed. I'll still do the free adoption every week or two (depends on my cash flow). The whole thing still requires much thought.

Rolln if you really want the blind male (one is fully blind, the other can see out one eye and still lives in the grow out) I'd be honored for you to have him. I absolutely adore him myself :*) I'd keep him but I know that's not practical, I can't let myself start falling in love with oddballs from each spawn

Sorrell~ omg  I can't believe one of your babies has funky ventrals :*) I have to go look at pictures of him now.He must not of been fully gimped out when I sent him :X

cometcattle~ You were one of the people who made an impression on me and made me think about it to be honest. When I was pondering on what to do with the blind one, I thought about you. He's gonna go be blind next to roll's fish now  but I'm sure I have somebody you'll love!!

Becca & cc~ I'll check. I know you can send priority mail to Canada, so I don't see why not. Unless customs comes in to play, which it might.

nibbles~ I never even noticed until I moved them into the 55 gallon, and yeah it was the feeling along the wall, the siblings and the way it's eyes are completely gold, with a pin spot for a pupil. He's extremely alert and remarkable IMO

UFB~ I'll send them 2-3 day priority mail for 3.85. It's commonly done and they're tough enough to take it.

tekkno~ lmao@ have their addresses, that's funny. Unfortunately I lose addresses as fast as I write them on a box, I've actually had to ask people on the forum for their address again because I lost it already :*)
(not excluding anybody,so please no one feel left out! ;) )

Ok then everybody  I'm excited!

:D wow this is going to be really exciting! and wuv, i dont' know at ALL how much shipping will cost you from there to here in canada, but if it's not too much i'll be willing to pay for it instead of you paying for it :*)

unforuantely u'll have to be a tad patient with me as i'll probably have to write a check or something

 Ya, you betcha thats a good idea. I would be very interested and more than willing to pay shipping. Since I am interested in pets and not showing or breeding, a little imperfection matters not. I just want healthy fish. As a nurse, special needs in my pets has never been a problem. And since I am now retired, :/ , I have time. I have changed diapers on inccontinent cats, so a little extra care for a Betta would be no problem. Can I do it? Ask my vet.

Wuv - Great idea! I have no room right now (except the spot I'm preparing for an orangie... ) but I know you will be able to find wonderful homes for many of your misfits  .

Wow, I have an nearly-incontinant cat! Perhaps you two are a match made in heavan - She doesn't wear nappies, but she pees on a rug by the litterbox - good times. Interested?

Just kidding. Well, not about the cat, she took a flying leap out of a 5 story apartment building, but about giving her away. I love her anyway  .

I wouldn't mind the other particially blind one, but we'd have to see about getting it over the border..
And I'd have to see if my husband wouldn't mind a charity case... *laugh* I have a perfect house for the little buddy. :)

I think that any customs fees from shipping to Canada are charged to the receiver, on the Canadian side of the border. However, there are usually no customs fees (it's a random fee, and usually it can be fought so you don't even have to pay it.)

Some things (I'm not sure if fish are included) are also taxed if they are shipped to Canada. Again, the receiver would pay the taxes when they receive the fish.

Did you say you do have some "oddball" orange plakats? These guys are my favourite
