:) So, as I mentioned in a previous post in the Plec forum, I was at Wal-Mart today to get a prescription. While waiting for the prescription, I browsed the fish area (of course!). There were the usual overcrowded tanks with pretty fishies......they had some white Oscars with red markings, which I'm assuming are albino Oscars...??? Side note: My boyfriend wants an Oscar when we have room! Yay! The boyfriend wants a fish! Back to the story... Anyway...I got to the Betta section and there was the usual selection of Bettas in there little cups of dirty water :( AND THEN, there were Bettas in BIG CUPS!!!!!! Yes, Betttas in big cups! Cups twice to three time the size of the regular cups! I'd say they had the capacity of a Betta Hex (single, not double), at least, although I think they were a bit wider, and maybe shorter. I was happy to see the Bettas in bigger cups

Just had to share...:)

That is good news :D it's nice to see improvement and amazing what a little persistence can do. My Wal-Mart had bettas in dirty cups all the time, I always bought the worst of each bunch but then I just started complaining to management, they didn't care the 1st few times but when I started complaining twice a week I soon noticed the cups were always sparkly clean

Now....hmmm, how to get them to use bigger cups like your wally world :shifty:

I am wondering if it was just my wally world or what but did yours all have those UGLY holloween fish, they had some albino tiger oscars that looked like they had been swimming in blue food dye for a week and hence they were blue and some loach with red tail that I could tell was normally grey or black that looked the same as the oscars...... hmmmm I wonder what they did to those poor little fish?

I've still never seen those (Halloween fishies), I don't even look at my Wal-marts tanks, I glance now and then but, ehhhh, I'm usually too busy telling buyers they should go down the street to my lfs  :*) ,it's such a little hole in the wall shop and nobody knows it's there ;)

The fish section in my Wal-Mart is the best section in the whole store. THe only problems they were having was with their Shubunkin Comet Goldfish (of which I am DEEPLY fond of). They ALWAYS have fungus or whitespot or spectisima (sp?) problem. Never healthy. Their Oscars always look wonderfull and the tanks are rarley overstocked. It's odd! They even CLEAN AND TAKE CARE of the Betas!! It's awesome. (that's where I get my females. ;))

Didn't see any up here, thankfully. I wasn't there right around halloween though either...

It must be a NuWalmart Policy because my local one has the male bettas in large cups, too. Unfortunately, the females are still in the small cups.

I am happy, though, that Walmart is getting a clue!

:kana: :kana: :kana: (first time I've used this smilie)

Yay!!! More big cups for more Bettas!!! (Hmmm...sounds like I'm talking about bras or bra sizes  ) Anyhew...I was also at Wal-Mart tonight and looked at the fish (of course). They had some Bettas in the big cups, but then they only had an inch or so of water in the cup :X :sly: Sort of defeats the purpose of having a larger cup...

The local Wal-Marts here don't have female Bettas...only males :(

and that DOES defeat the purpose if they have such a little amount of water at your walmart  ...some people  tsk tsk tsk

I noticed the females all had little cups here too -_- ,well if THAT'S not sexist

They had sooo many pretty bettas today, a blue one with yellow fins, very unique ...a few yellows,a white one that had calico blue and lilac spots BUT I resisted 8) ,I didn't get one :X (I still want that blue & yellow one though.....maybe he'll be there tomorrow :shifty: )
