A platy fry is born!

The mum and dad started acting really funny so I sast and watched with my camera just in case, after half an hour or so I gave up and just as I turned the night light on I saw a bit of fluff swimming all by itself, I was quick enough to catch it, it's adorable. I haven't seen any more as yet, but i'll check back in the morning. Take a look at my new baby!

The only downside is, looking at these pictures it looks as if the other fry are not so sucessful. Does it look like the rest are aborted?

I am very proud, I've only been keeping fish for eight days, this is my first fry, and I think the only one to survive out of the whole brood.

Theres probably more to come. That baby looks like a big en. Must have been hard work squeezing that one oot!

It is quite big, she was acting really weird and the male too, is it normal for the male to keep poking at the female? He keeps doing it. I'm off to bed now, I'll have a look in the morning to see if I can see any more in the tank. I'll keep you all posted.

He probably just want's some action now the baby is born. Sorry, I'm not sure if thats normal behaviour. I just reckon the male will always be at the female looking to mate.

Apparently I can feed him finely crushed flakes.

So whats happening Jay? Had anymore babies? Hows the first one?

Well I'm at work at the moment, when I left this morning the fry was looking ok, I'm going to try to build a breeding net at some point, the one at the lfs is way too small and isn't much bigger than the plastic one i've got. I'll be making it out of fine mesh if I can find some. I hope it's ok, I'm really eager to get hope to check he's ok, being my first and only fry (that I know of) I so want him to survive but am worried he wont. I just bought some baby brine shrimp eggs and a microworm kit on ebay for my fish.
