A New 18 Gallon Tank

well crunch..that was some answer!! it would seem that you no longer need our help as you have become an expert in fish keeping overnight..and there was me thinking that there was so much learning to be done, i would never meet everyone who knew it all!!! i have given all the advice i can give and the majority has been ignored. good luck to you.....

NO I have no intention to disregard anything what experts say,................ I imagine you guys as my friends so i won`t do anything which will make you disheartened to such an extent.
But you have already disregarded a lot of advice and, by the looks of it, dishearted the friends you made here, like Laura.

You're behaving like a child, Crunch. But you have lives on your hands. Look after them.

ANd hello about the size of the fish, this wont happen over night. BE real guys If any fish for whatever reason passes the mark It Will be removed . Its not like there is no tomorrow  .Its not like all the ponds and rivers in the world are going to dry UP for CRISSAKES    .
Forget 6 my sharks will go 12 ft big and live their life in happiness

Pangasius sharks are well known for being easily spooked and killing themselves by smashing into the sides of tanks when they grow larger - especially common in tanks that are too small, which, unless you have a pond, hobbyist tanks are. Not exactly a life of happiness...

Guys can i have a pinch of faith from your side. It will really help me out. See They are 3 inches in length each. I am planning to keep them for only say a month or two. I believe in one to two months time this 18 gallon tank is, if not a very huge space OK, but its not small either.

Yes I did behave like a kid when i brought them, it was all raw impulse. But I have given days and nights to protect my fish after all your comments, This whatever i am doing is only because; like laura all of you are my friends; and I am not and i will never disregard your advice by any means. i have been constantly reading articles getting advice from flutter and trying my level best day and night that things get right. since the gauramis...(lol they where lily tetras not gauramis or else i would`ve been in much bigger trouble) are gone the snails are there, my betta and a plec thats all. These sharks are skittish yes. but if you can come and take a look they are getting good care and are now showing postive signs i.e swimming in calmn, eating pellets when they are given and stuff.

Oh fintastic why are you thinking this way. The only problem was of the betta not being compatible with the gauramis. The day you guys first reported that to me its DONE, I implement your advice within minutes after reading them, your thinking of me as a troll or a cruel or selfish person is not correct by any means.

The problem doesn`t lie in my actions, its the circumstances i am in. People, shopkeepers even veteran ones don`t know even 10% of what you people know, It is not that I go and order some fish by their name and they will get it for me. Here it is one day in week when there is a pet market called a 'HAAT' You go there check the fishes out, all they tell you about them is their price nothing else cos they know nothing about it, they don`t even know their REAL NAME. OS that idea of learning about the fish before getting them does not apply.

Say for exapmle : One sunday i go to the 'haat' see a fish. Bring the pictures back and then research on it take your advice and stuff , then what, answer is that you wait for the next sunday OK.
NOw go there on the NEXT Sunday and you don`t even find the fish you researched a week into before getting. And you tell them I need rasbora or a neon tetra they think i am talkin HEBREW or LATIN, they point out towards the variety of fish they have and say take it or leave it. SO NOW YOU UNDERSTAND HOW IT IS HERE? It not completely my fault.

PLease guys a pinch of faith :-(

I'm sorry, but no, we're not friends. We're just strangers talking on a forum.

Time to get the impulses under control. And, well, you haven't given us a reason to put much faith in you. It's been one incident after another. You have disregarded advice--heaps of it. As all of us have pointed out.

If you actually did care about the advice you'd received here, you wouldn't have wasted the fish-in cycle the 20L was undergoing, and you would have started a fishless cycle in the new tank. But you didn't.

Keeping the sharks in this small area for any time will effect their health in the long term. End story. And they'll probably eat all your smaller fish. And then your tank will leak or break because of the little table you've got it on.

It sounds like this HAAT place is not a good place for you to buy fish, no matter how cheap they may be. Maybe it would work for someone more experienced. You should never buy a fish without knowing the facts about it first. You need to be able to go to a shop, look at the fish, pick some out that you like, go home and research them and find out what ones will work in your situation. Then go back and get some fish. There should be no sense of urgency involved. As for now, since your tank is overstocked, you won't be buying any for a long time.

That wasn't me Crunch though I agree with it. Let's pull back from the slagging, though it's very tempting to have a go. Just start again Crunch. No more fish. Spend time reading around the forum and TAKE YOUR TIME! I've made lots of mistakes but on following advice given by the guys here I'm a much happier fish keeper with much happier fish.

+1! thats the way to go crunch! have a good read of the info then come back to us when you are serious about taking our advice.
:good: :D
