A New 18 Gallon Tank

i have just been reading through all this and im sorry to say but someone like this shouldnt keep fish, by the sounds of it, (betta in a bowl) they have tried once and failed, they have tried a second time and have failed even worse, they cannot take any of the good advise on bored, sorry to say but in my oppinion, u should find a different hobby

To start with, don't claim to have taken any of the advice given to you here because it is clear to all in writing that you have gone against everything you have been told including the advice that you are now being given - to get rid of the sharks. Dispite numorous people telling you that keeping them for any length of time will harm them, you still insist on keeping them for a few months.
I would suggest that either you learn some self restraint or you don't go back to this haas place. Clearly you have taken fish back before so why can't you return the sharks?
Finally from me, never use the excuse that you have to go away and research the fish and they are gone by the time you next go. Guess what, research them BEFORE you go, remember what they look like and only buy them . . . Nothing else.

NO I have no intention to disregard anything what experts say,................ I imagine you guys as my friends so i won`t do anything which will make you disheartened to such an extent.
But you have already disregarded a lot of advice and, by the looks of it, dishearted the friends you made here, like Laura.

You're behaving like a child, Crunch. But you have lives on your hands. Look after them.

Yes I did behave like a kid when i brought them, it was all raw impulse. But I have given days and nights to protect my fish after all your comments, This whatever i am doing is only because; like laura all of you are my friends; and I am not and i will never disregard your advice by any means. i have been constantly reading articles getting advice from flutter and trying my level best day and night that things get right. since the gauramis...(lol they where lily tetras not gauramis or else i would`ve been in much bigger trouble) are gone the snails are there, my betta and a plec thats all. These sharks are skittish yes. but if you can come and take a look they are getting good care and are now showing postive signs i.e swimming in calmn, eating pellets when they are given and stuff.

I'm sorry, but no, we're not friends. We're just strangers talking on a forum.

Time to get the impulses under control. And, well, you haven't given us a reason to put much faith in you. It's been one incident after another. You have disregarded advice--heaps of it. As all of us have pointed out.

If you actually did care about the advice you'd received here, you wouldn't have wasted the fish-in cycle the 20L was undergoing, and you would have started a fishless cycle in the new tank. But you didn't.

Keeping the sharks in this small area for any time will effect their health in the long term. End story. And they'll probably eat all your smaller fish. And then your tank will leak or break because of the little table you've got it on.

WEll that explains a lot. BUZZ OFF STRANGER :sly:
Go and learn some manners first. God Bless anything which is near you BUM !!

I'm impolite? You're having a laugh.

See All this number of people can`t be wrong, It means IDs have to go, but guys they will be in worse off conditions.I had taken them when they where in a round plastic plate with 1 litre water or even less and there where 15 other fish along with 8 other snails  . I am sure that kiddo( the person who was selling them was nearly 15)does not have a 100 gallon tank to keep them.

SEE one way he doesn`t know about them and he`s just fighting for his living. But that doesn`t guarantee that they will be having a 100 gallon tank with them. Plus i don`t know anybody who has a 100 gallon tank nearby or anywhere. Even if i go and donate it to a shop they will keep it in a smaller tank than mine. I tried the local aquarium too and it was a nightmare there and they said ID sharks are very common fish we only keep rare and exquisite species. So I am stuck with them unless anyone among you got the courage to ask for them. :hey:

After say one and half months when these fish are slightly bigger and have higher survival capacity. I plan to release them in a pond or a river, well that was me.Still if you insist I WILL do whatever you say.
I was even planning to go and donate them any buyer i meet at the 'HAAT' maybe, BUt you need to know something too, ID sharks are staple food for most local people and I don`t want my pet on a pan.

If i had not been serious I would not have invested so much time, effort and money into this.

AND that 'Betta in a bowl' example that was my START, Well some people claim to know Latin since birth,Too bad I am not among those elite and Can these kind of people refrain from replying to my stuff.

Woah there Crunch! No one said to release these in a pond or river! Do you live in Southeast Asia? That is the only place they should be released. Anywhere else they would probably die or at best become an unwanted invasive species. This is probably your worst idea yet.

Well I live in india and we get these fish in our rivers I have seen fisherman bring them at fish markets here. anyways solution dear?

Please check with your fisheries department to make sure it is legal to release them. I'm thinking they're an invasive species there, unless they're something other than Pangasius. Just because they can live there and maybe you have seen them, doesn't mean they should be there. Here in the U.S. we have all kinds of invasives, most of them are dumped pets, and most of them have a detrimental effect on the native wildlife. If they are a native species I would release them sooner rather than later.

AM not finding anybody from the department who knows or even cares. They seem indifferent with whatever i do. I think only solution is left is that i go back to the 'haat' and return them back to the tub i got them from. And just forget that I ever had any ID`s as pets nor will ever get any till i don`t get a bigger tank

Excellent idea crunch! See, there's hope for you yet. I would bring that pleco back too, it's going to get too big also. There are tons of awesome fish that don't get too big for your tank.

Wow this is one weird post - Well im glad the OP is correcting his mistakes but just to add - if you followed the advice of the kind people on here who took the time and effort to help you - you wouldnt have any mistakes to correct.
I wish you the best of luck.

Its not only that snake, people are really uneducated about their fish pets here. All real advice and intel about fish is gathered from this forum so there is a time lag involved in the process. Anyways what is important that I did it in the end. Tank is getting cycled, fish are having a good time, plants are growing new leaves, algae is in control things gave improved a lot and I am a more experienced pet owner.
Leave that I read your signature gallon 900 woooh snake. I cant imagine how big its gonna be. You are snake900 buddy not only 007.:good:
