A Few Reptiles From My Past Til Present

Cheers for the you tube site mate..guess where i'm going now,lol....

Good luck with the breeding project and hope the geck pops up soon

I love your reptiles. :D Just wondering, how big does the spectacled caiman get?

In captivity these gnarly little critters normally stop at around 4 to 5 feet, if not smaller....I haven't kept these guys in about 9 years now since a baby black caiman sneaked into the group and through a nutty,lol...gave him to a large collector/breeder over here who had space for his eventual 10 feet plus......and also had nerves of steel !!!!

Really easy to keep and the imperials make great, easy to handle pets....rule of thumb is....large pincers and thin tail safe to handle, small pincers and fat tail...keep yer hands out !!,lol...
Imperials like a sub tropical set up with some cover and to be kept humid around 78 to 82 degrees in temp.

Yeah, I wouldnt call a monitor an easy thing to handle lol. Black throats are spunky. Never handled a bosc. Nice pictures. I'm somewhat jealous.

Lol..yep when young monitors can be fiery..once they bite they won't let go either..
As they mature some species, especially boscs can become big softies and will more than likely tail whip rather than bite when not on form...and believe me..this can hurt just as much,lol...

Ooooh wow!!! More photos needed!!

I hate hate HATE spiders but so long as it cant get anywhere near me, i have a bit of a fascination with them, i want photos!! Just so we can all say 'oooh and ARRRGHHHHH' at them!! ;)

I have NEVER had any interest in ever keeping any venemous species of snake (says she with a volitans lionfish and previously owned two motoro stingrays!) as i just dont see the point in the risks. Just for myself personally, i have particularly slow reactions and a habit of not getting on with snakes.

At collage if i walked past the cornsnake viv, all three would strike at me, no one else... just me... i couldnt handle them or be near them, they just hated me much to everyones amusement.

Not as bad as later on when i chose my first snake, i deliberately got a hatchling leucistic texas ratsnake on the basis that it would bite me no matter what and they werent kidding, spent more time hanging off my hand then it did in its viv! Not to mention the one time it ended up hanging off my face

Then i ended up with a 2ft carpet python who HATED me, everyone else she was fine with but me... struck every time i went near and had a particularly good aim for my face! Shame as i wasnt nervouse as her bites were pathetic and i did love her loads and she amused me but confident or not, that snake hated me! She was a seriously problem feeder, after a year she had only eaten once, maybe twice and so i rehomed her, was eating fine after a couple of weeks aparently! She hated anything that looked or smelt like me, she was very clever, she even knew it was me from a good distance wearing friends clothers (she was fine being handled by said friend!).

I adore my two baby royals, i have had them since they were 6 days old, they are now a few months old and growing like weeds! Both are normals but the female has a lot of bright yellow and a good dorsal stripe, the male is much bigger and chunkier though. I think they are both Het for pastel, they both have the grey top half of their eye that is meant to be a sign of pastel genetics. Plus i recon i saw a few pastels in the batch too. There were over 1000 to choose from so mine are special as i looked at them all lol!

I miss my leopard geckos hugely, i will get more one day when i have space for them, i had a beautiful breeding pair with a Super Hypo Tangerine male (he also had a bald head no markings and a dorsal stripe) and a gorgeous Mack Snow female (i forget what they were het for). Unfortunately i was forced to sell them along with all my snakes and rodents when i moved in with a guy with a fear of reptiles (who has since fallen in love with them! he even named Justin my male royal)

Bah... miss reptiles so so much, dont supose you have gecko photos for me to drool over?

Been bitten so a confirmed herper i'd say,lol
Used to have a sub adult taiwan beauty who was exactly the same towards me..only had to have me in range to strike,lol...
Will go through the old pc tomorrow and gather up a few more pics and post them in here, as said however, a lot of my older collection were never photographed on digital medium, but bound to be a few more to pop up......
I've had too many face bites to count as they lock in on the high heat emitted from your cheeks and some snakes simply can't resist,lol...
Been tagged by a copperhead and highly recomend no one tries this, had numerous stitches from an adult iggy jumping off my arm and leaving multiple scars behind, prised baby monitors off my finger, the list goes on and on,lol...

yeh but was that taiwan not fine with most other people except you or am i thinking of a different. ill have a look and see if the discs of photos dolly took that time are about anywhere or is that where you got most of them from??

God...Thai Beauties are FUN!! haha!

We had one called Wot Went Wong ;) got her from someone saying she was horrifically aggressive, on the first few days we got her she was out and being cuddled by kids, ever so gentle, i even fell asleep holding her in an armchair and woke up to find her wrapped around me and the back cushion like a seatbelt!

She was always ever so lovely then suddenly she just snapped, got incredibly aggressive (at which point she got her name!) and started taking good chunks out of people, she was sold recently and again, is absolutely fine with her new owner! I think its just because she is an elongated dustbin, permanently hungry, she would eat every day if she could, even if she was stuffed! She was the biggest Thai i've ever seen though, hit a good 7ft and still looked like growing slowly though more in girth than anything.

I had a chance to meet some Parrot Snakes? *goes off to find a real name* Yup, parrot snakes, Leptophis ahaetulla. They were amazing, thin as a pencil with huge heads and the nastiest temperment ever and aparently very difficult to feed! The guy that brought them in to show us sold everything up recently and moved to south american to run some kind of reptile collection or something along those lines!

I was so jelous the other week, a customer in the shop came in and put a pillowcase on the desk and just said 'my snake wont eat ANYTHING, can you check he's in good condition etc' of course i knew it was a Royal Python, what the guy hadnt told me was that it was the most stunning Albino! Its now happy eating multimammate mice, for some reason royals cant resist em.

I ADORE geckos with huge eyes!! We had a really typically nasty.. in fact.... pure evil Tokay Gecko, god that was one snappy thing and could move so fast but the sticky feet are amazing! I had some funny shots somewhere of a Palm Gacko doing laps round my bedroom wall, daft thing was a little out of my reach, fell on me during the night lol.

Ooh yes, i'll definately nominate the cutie for POTM too! There's ya second!
