My 75G at 90 days after planting. Still waiting for the DHG, mini to fill in but is doing quite well. Don't know if I trust the co2 reactor outside the tank, though...plan to add Cardinals and Harlequin Rasboras in a few months.

I noticed that a few of you showed some interest in what I was doing with this aquarium. I have some "issues" that I am dealing with and thought some of you might be interested in helping me out. In the process, we all might learn something...what do you think?

My first issue is why the DHG mini on the left side of the tank is doing better than those on the right side. They were all planted at the same time. They came from the same supplier and were Tissue Culture. They were floated for some time until roots formed.

I planted them with the same size "clumps" and my lighting and co2 has been consistent across the 48" width.

The root structure on the left hand side is considerably more developed that the right. My suspicion is that I did not spend enough time cleaning out the muck from the old substrate on the right, although there is some sign of more root structure there.

Secondly, it appears that the DHG mini is clumping on the left side of center. I thought it did not have to be pruned but could be wrong...thoughts?

I know next to nothing about plants. But could the difference in growth be related to water current difference on the left vs right side? My Amazon swords in my 4 foot, 60 gallon tank do better on the opposite side to my Aquaclear 110 HOB filter which is placed on the short side of the tank. It creates quite a current. And the swords near it are somewhat stunted.

That could very well be. In my tank, the flow exits my Fluval 307 from the left hand surface of the co2 reactor toward the right side of the tank. There is less current on the left and more on the right side. Interesting, although the sword on the left are growing at a similar rate to the one on right...weird because some have said DHG grows better in current...
