im just curious what options i will have when restocking my 75 gallon tank. when the time is right ill find a home for my pacu and oscar. but wanted to get some stocking suggestions. if you guys can give me ideas of wich cichlids and tankmates to put in it i can set the tank up to accommodate what ever fish i decide to go with. i love bolivians but i also would love to set it up for some medium sized cichlids like the firemouth. i want to hear all suggestion though.

If filtration is good enough, why not go for some Discus, get a couple of plants .

yes in a 75 gallon tank you can easily keep 8 adult discus.for your discus tank you can buy eheim 2217 external filter, run it 24*7....and 2 sponge filter.

If you like a tank with a bit more activity than a discus tank then you could consider 3 or 4 of one of the slightly smaller geophagus species, plus a load of tetras for the upper levels.

i like discus but they are like 80-90 dollars a piece around here. cant afford that lol. i was thinking Firemouths but what would the maximum number i could have of those in a 75 gallon tank? i would love to set my tank up with a massive tree like center piece with roots going everywhere and live plants growing around the tank. not sure how the plants will work out if i go with live plants lol

ive also been thinking about a pair of Jack Dempseys or a Single Wet Pet like the oscar or red devil

If you were hoping for a relatively peaceful tank, then I'd go for a pair, or a trio (1M 2F) only of firemouths in a 75G. If you're happy with more aggression then two pairs would be OK.
A single wet pet would work well in a 75. Personally, I'd prefer a severum or a chocolate, but an oscar or one of the more aggressive CA cichlids (so long as it wasn't one of the larger ones) would also be fine.

A single Oscar in there would be good, they make excellent wet pets as they are so personable. I'm not sure about Oscars with FMs, but it could work. Then a Bichir or Plec for the bottom :)

Im thinking 6 Firemouths and some tetras. im kind of interested in a Bichir but need to do more research on those. im sure if i were to get one i would have to lower the amount of firemouths i get.

i still have my other 75 gallon tank. that i could always do the wet pet thing with. i just need to talk it over with my fiance to see if we have another spot to put that tank.
