Zig Ive an Eheim 2231 ecco on at the moment and its pants, no flow rate at all and clogs up real easy. Ive backed it up with an internal fluval 2+ until i can be arsed to cut out the hood for my other filter.
My ballast is a twin unit but the holders are really shot , i don't think they would take a new tube now.
Ste_J that's more or less they way i got the bits out of my holders, right pain.

The ludwiga and Alternathera rosaefolia are growing realy stong, still getting a bit of hair algae on the hair grass, java moss and Cryptocoryne beckettii .
Ive noticed a bit of the green spot algae on the crypt too (and on the Anubias Nana in other tank) any advice on this.

Quick update shot, did a bit of gardening, trimmed the hair grass down and added some more Cryptocoryne beckettii (stuffs growing mad in other tank)
Still fighting the hair algae on the moss (had same problem on other tank so i hope its just part of the balancing act  )
I would like to replace the cabomba, ludwiga and Alternathera rosaefolia with a low bushy type plant, any ideas on that score?

i was reading earlier in your journal and it said u added 10 cherrry fire shrimp i have one in a 10g and want to put it in a 20g with dwarf gouramisand a bosemani rainbow would it be eaten by the gouramis??? they are about 2-3 in long

badis56 my shrimp have been in for just over a month now, I'm not sure how many Ive lost, most Ive seen lately is 7 but they can hide right in front of you (its that bright pink camo :D ) Ive not really got anything in the 60L that would have a go at them unless 1 died (not sure on bristlenose mind)
Give them a go, i don't think gourami would pose a problem but no idea on the rainbows, the shrimp are pretty good at hiding so most would prob look after them selves.

i put the shrimp in the 20g today and hes doin fine, the other fish are lookin at him but none have messed with him yet he looks really cool the red looks really good against the green plants
:D

Congo tetras and kribs attacked my new ones. I only rescued 3 of the 5 I put in 1 day ago and just for the record they are not hiding I saw a congo with the shrimps feeler things hanging out it's mouth.

Just a couple of new pics, everything seems to be settling down a bit now , hair algae seems to be slowing down, just get a bit of gsa on the crypts.
Now comes the hard part , the $6400 question, where do i go from here? I'm not happy with the right hand side of the wood , i think the ludwiga and Alternathera rosaefolia look a tad untidy.
Any criticism or advise is greatly appreciated.

Hi again
my shrimp is doing great he eats a ton of algae i might get a few more...

Looking awesome mate. I can't get over how healthy the moss is - mine's all but dead.

I agree that the stems need tidying a little. Great job though.

looks nice and healthy mate, it's hard to see the whole tank though any chance of a front view from a little way back? (so you can see the tank sides) it will be easier to think of options if i can see it from there.

i'm glad the ludwigia is working out. looks really healthy.

Quick update, got hacked off with the hair algae not shifting so binned all plants that where covered.
due to work commitments i knew tank would suffer, so i filled it with cheap plants from pets at home.
Don't even have a name on them :D will get round to it some time honest.
Other than weekly water change , weekly dose of ferts (not home every night for ei regime) and co2 change
The tank hasn't been touched for a month.
Now here's the bug bear- no hair algae even my hair grass is clear :hyper: mind still have gsa on crypts.
My work routine is back to normal now but i'm not sure if i want to go back down the ei route or not.

I think the front plant is either Hemianthus micranthemoides or Micranthemum umbrosum, but as to the back right hand side plant i have no idea. Ive switched plants around that much ive lost track of whats in here now.
So Hopefully the expert spotters can fill me in here.

Just read through this thread.

Nice tank mate.
Hope the algae doesn't return after your clear out.

Read your tap water stats -are you on Dee Valley or another water board?
