i am thinking of getting myself
a Venus fly trap but all the ones
i have seen so far have not been
good specimens

Yeah, but the issue is I can't really "plant" the potted sundews I have in there. If you plant a carnivorous plant in a nutrient rich substrate I will die. My sundews are really happy in there little peat pot, but to actually plant them I would need to still keep them separate from the rest of the tank. The tank can't function stably with a low nutrient substrate like the sundews need. Thats why they are just sitting in their pot on top of the soil.

could you not plant it in a plant pot
like we used to do when we used to use
undergravel filters it just give the plant
its own bit of low nutrient soil just an idea
the place were i go i have seen pitcher plants
sundews and Venus fly traps but there never
that clever looking any thing else i should
look out for remember i am in the UK :lol:
