50 Gal

That should be fine.

my mom wants something bg to go in there (besides angelfish)
so what could put that s big, colorful and under $10 (U.S.) and would be compatible with:
5 rummynose tetras
1 male GBR
2 unsexed angelfish
2 unsexed bristlenose plecos

would a keyhole cichlid work?

I would say it probably would. The issue would be potentially them eating the rummynose, but I don't think they would. Do you have the rummynose now?

I see that you already have the rummynose. They might be too small, but I'm not sure.

ok thanks
what size fish do you think a full grown keyhole cichlid won't be able to eat?

A rummy nose would be fine with keyholes. Most tetras would be safe, unless they are really small and the keyholes large.

so far in the 60 gallon tank is alot of anacharis (or hornwort), 2 crypt wendtii "green" sprouts, 1 crypt wendtii "red", a fake driftwood ornament, a fake cave ornament, 2 peices of real wood (will be taken out, once the fish are put in) and 5 minnows i got from a dryng puddle.
the filter media "new" is in the filter, as is 3 "partially" mature filter media from 2 ten gallon filters (one had 2 small cartidges, therefore the "3") the "partially mature filter media will be put in the 30 gallon filter once that, "fully" mature filter media is placed in the marineland bio-wheel penguin 350 (new) filter. I will probaly posst pictures soon, but it is looking really empty and, the two real peices of wood are floating, and i can't find a good image hosting site, since my parents won't let me have flickr, photobucket, etc.

EDIT: i just got rid of the rock cave and replaced it with real mopani wood i like how it looks, so i am now lookng into getting another one to replace the fake driftwood ornament later on, i also added a jungle val in the far righthand corner.
oh i also forgot to mention that the middle of the tank is black sand, the left hand side is caribsea floramax substrate (tan) capped with a thin layer of black sand. the right hand corner is caribsea foramax "black" capped wth no substrate, this is where the substrate n the 20 gallon is going to go. the depth s anthwere from 3 to 4 inches (approx. i havent measured)

Sounds good. What's your plan with the minnows?

ill probaly put them back in the 20 gallon with the betta and corys. but it depends on how big they get because don't want them to get eaten, but i want another shoaling fish in the 60 gal besides the rummynose and the minnows stay near the waterline, whereas the rummynose are kind of in the middle top

The minnows are probably cold water fish... I don't think they would be good in a tropical set-up. My brother saved some minnows like that to placate his sons. They are nearly two years old now, and in a 10 gallon tank, they are HUGE! About 5 inches each. I think these are "annual" fish in the wild, but his just keep going and going. He actually hates them now, because he never wanted them in the first place. But, there he is, still taking care of them.

The tank is way too small, but its far better than the 3 gallon they started in. I bought him the 10 gallon set-up just so that they would have a better existence. Maybe they do, maybe it would have been better I didn't intervene. I don't know. I'd just suggest that you consider what to do with them carefully.

i know, they are native in florida, so i think i mght release them into a lake, since there are stupid kids in my neighbor hood who catch minnows from there, then dig holes, fill it up with water and try to keep the minnows, frogs, tadpoles and anythng else, aquatic in there. but i live in florida and so the water is up to 95 degrees in the summer and sometimes (rarely) 50 degrees (or lower) in the winter (from december to feb) but the average temperature is probaly around 75 degrees

but if these minnows grow to be about 2 or 3 inches i will keep them in the 60 gallon, snce they seem really happy and 2 are pregnant

Hard to know where everybody lives. I'd do some serious research regarding their potential size.

ive tried but i haven't come up with much, but ill keep lookng :)
