45 gallon ideas

Hello guys,
I just bought a 45 gallon tank and am just looking for ideas. It is sand on bottom and will be heavily planted with driftwood as decoration. If anyone has a similar tank a picture would be appreciated so I can get ideas. I was also wondering good stocking ideas. I have 2 angelfish and 4 cities already in my current tank I'm going to put in the new one. I'm going to add more cories and some kind of pleco or similar fish. Past that I have no idea what all to add. I would prefer unique fish I might not find at a PetSmart type store.

What are the tank dimensions (length x width x height)?

What is the GH (general hardness), KH (carbonate hardness) and pH of your water supply?
This information can usually be obtained from your water supply company's website or by telephoning them. If they can't help you, take a glass full of tap water to the local pet shop and get them to test it for you. Write the results down (in numbers) when they do the tests. And ask them what the results are in (eg: ppm, dGH, or something else).

Depending on what the GH of your water is, will determine what fish you should keep.
Tetras, barbs, gouramis, rasbora, Corydoras and small species of suckermouth catfish all occur in soft water (GH below 150ppm).

Livebearers (guppies, platies, swordtails, mollies) occur in medium hard water with a GH around 200-250ppm.

If you have very hard water (GH above 300ppm) then look at African Rift Lake cichlids or use distilled or reverse osmosis water to reduce the GH and keep fishes from softer water.

It is 36 L x 12 W x 24 H

KH is 40ppm and GH is 120ppm

I was thinking of doing angelfish, cories, pleco, platies, kuhli loachs, and some snails. Would those work well together or what would you say?

Leave out the platies, and that's fine.

Platies are hard water fish which won't do well in water with your hardness.
