No no no... You're not understanding. What's wrong with having rainbows and gudgeons showing off?
You reckon the gudgeons display better than that or Iriatherina?
I guess I can befussy little bugga aren't you
Not really our business how he negotiate pocket money with his parents, but whatever happens, he's going to learning from all the information others are sharing, and that's never a bad thing, right?Ha @Rocky998, give us a budget, you have all these new fish designs monthly, but at the end of the day Mum and Dad have the money and won't give you any. So, what are you doing with all this information we are providing?
Iriatherina werneri and Pseudomugil gertrudae aren't super fast and don't dash about madly. They are sedate little fish that get excited and show off
Check YouTube and watch some videos of them breeding.
You can also ask Adorable dearheart? I think she has P. luminatus and furcatus. Or someone has them.
Yes. Definitely none of anyone's business. I rarely (basically never) talk about money with anyone besides my parents. Not really our business how he negotiate pocket money with his parents, but whatever happens, he's going to learning from all the information others are sharing, and that's never a bad thing, right?
I really like those red neons! Extremely stunning!do have luminatus! Just the four of them so far, but hoping for more soon. It was Valinesa who had furcatus though.
I'm hoping to have a school of luminatus and possibly a school of the celebes together in my planted 63g once it's all established.
Sorry Rocky, I don't know enough about peacock gudgeons to make a suggestion for another fish to add.
Just don't actually know if I want to go the small rainbowfish route... Something just seems to be missing in their personality.
I understand completely! Im a questioning type so when I question a very knowledgeable member, its not because I don believe them I just want to understand a bit more on their reasoning.Nothing missing in their personalities - they have a lot of personality for a very tiny fish! But if they don't grab you, then there's nothing wrong with that. I'd much prefer people only get fish they really want to keep that will also work in their set up, not force it and end up not liking them much.
By the same token, don't try to force fish together that you've been warned won't work, by people who have a great deal more knowledge and experience, just because you really, really want the fish and want it to work. I don't mean to never question authority either, just... I don't even know how to express it, so I should probably stop here...
Oh no no! Im not saying it like that... For me they were missing something. I felt like they were just top dwelling peacock gudgeons and while I love my gudgeons I wanted a somewhat unique personality from each fish. The rainbow fish just seemed to be lacking the more calming and graceful side.Nothing missing in their personalities - they have a lot of personality for a very tiny fish!
I'm ok if I dont get anymore fry... It's been wonderful caring for them and all but I'm not planning to make a small business out of it (although it would be cool). Are the peacock gudgeons likely to stop breeding once sharing a tank with other fish? Are you okay with that? Cories really don't grasp the concept of territories and will eat eggs and fry just by bumbling across them, not by hunting them down or anything. But how furious are the gudgeons likely to be when cories amble into their territory, especially if they're trying to guard eggs?
Oh? I thought they may be too big... Let me check them out. Never thought of looking them upHave you thought about a Halfbeak species? Some of them come from more alkaline waters.
Check these out - https://aquaticarts.com/search?q=halfbeak all out of stock at the moment but good profiles some are on SF too but pretty good here. A lot are found in broad range of habitats from brackish estuaries to swamps. Could be a good candidate I think and pretty interesting. Most species only get a few inches long.I'm ok if I dont get anymore fry... Male peacock gudgeons get slightly aggressive with their eggs and will chase other fish away.
Luckily, the sterbai cory are like double the size of a peacock gudgeon...
Also peacock gudgeons usually lay their eggs in a very cramped space where most fish can't fit (especially something like a chubby corydora).
