4.5 Gallon Pico Reef

There are five or so snails in already...hitched hiked on the rock, I'll pick them out later and throw them back in the bigger tank, otherwise they will become food once I add the main inhabitant of this tank :)

Behold, Neogonodactylus wennerae:

And where are you going to get that mantis? oh, btw, is it possible to have a goby in a tank that size?

Im going to get him from a live rock company called Tampa Bay Saltwater (thanks, Ski :) ). A lot of people would say it would be fine to have a fish in a tank this small, and I've seen them in smaller. Personally I think 5 gallons is the smallest size you should have any fish in. I couldnt think of any fish other than gobys that I would feel comfortable putting in a tank this small though. I actually considered a pair of green banded gobys but nah.

Yup, TBSW sells em. Best bet is to call them if you want to order one :)

Lookin good Chris. I'll be joining you in drinking miller lite tomorrow night :D

arggg jealous. Work is killing me working twice as many hours for the holidays. Also a roommate just moved back in after living in England for the last semester so all excess energy is spent on cleaning so she comes home to tidiness rather than cigarette, beer, dead coral and slime algae smells...I really gotta change the bag in the tank room trash bin. I never thought in my life I'd be too tired to drink. Yeesh. Thanks for thee feedback btw :)

no goby, just mantis. Thought about dwarf seahorses but changed my mind. Mantis will be a lot cooler andcway less stressful. This tank is also goingvto serve as the growth tank for coral frags as I practice fragging corals in my other tanks. On that note, the Kenya frag I did yesterday has fully opened today and looks really good!

Slid the pack of smokes into view to give an idea of the size of the tank. Excuse my nasty habit :/ As you can see the only real change is that the kenya tree has opened up and is looking really nice!

Man, I was hoping that viper would come before I left town but no such luck :/ Should be here when I return though. Very stoked about that thing :D I just realized I have $116 and I dunno how to spend it...cable bill orrrrr new hardware...hmmmm what to do? Thinking of an auto top off for the big reef :)

I need an A.T.O. for my little reef! Get this, i went to the lfs for the light and the guy see's me walk in and it seems like he's avoiding me. I try to catch up to him and ask him for the light. He askes everybody except me if they need any help. When i finally get up to him i said "So wheres the light at? I so ready to get it!" He looks at me and says "Oh I'm sorry but the viper i saved for you was a 70 watt in a 150 watt box." But anyways like i said nice tank. Um keep up the good work. Even though i didnt get the light he said he would make a sweet deal on the light for me.

What kinda deal is he going to give you? I usually find ebay has the sweetest deals there are :) Just got myself a nice little auto top-off unit from ebay, along with a 200gph ehiem pump to push it. Can never have enough pumps :) This is actually for the big tank but Im thinking of one day making a large 30 gallon sump/fuge and using it to join the pico and the large tank since they are in the same room...that would be very interesting.
