4.5 Gallon Pico Reef

Well there are some out. Here's what I'm more than likely going to get:

Marineland 10w mini shatterproof. It would be perfect for this tank, still not as inconspicuous as I'd like.

It may be too small is the only problem though :/

Yeah, I am going to start with either a 20 long or high, not sure yet. On another note, I received my Cascade 1000 canister tonight and I love it. I have the ETH Heater hooked up to it (in-line). I also love how it comes with two options for outflow and adjustable flow, I had paid $120 for the Marineland C-160 that does 165gph and only $65 for the Cascade 1000 that pushes of 265gph, well worth it, I'd most likely buy the same model for my saltwater, it's pretty impressive for it's cost.

Sounds good! I'm debating on doing away with the canister and replacing it with a sump but I really dont know if I feel like spending the money on something that's not really very necessary. The only spare tank is a 30g and I'm not setting up a 30g sump for a tank this small :D Then again the only thing I even want to do with a sump is hide the heater :p Oh well, I'll work something out. Also thinking of getting another Coralife 9" setup and just having two of them over the tank for now. Gonna try and find time to frag some corals from the big tank and get them ready for the pico. :)

errr I changed my mind, screw it...gonna go with the 70w Viper HQI Clamp Lamp :) Might as well go all out :D Probably be ordering in the next few days :)

The tank looks like an Eclipse 6 system minus the hood and top bracing. I pretty sure about this since I have 2 and they both cracked on the back wall this past year. Your right in calling it a 4.5 gallon tank; I always thought calling it a 6 by the company was way too generous. BTW, if you want the ones I have, PM me. I even have an extra hood. I'd gladly send them to you for free if you want them; you would need to repair the cracks though.

More than likely it is, thanks for the offer! I'm all tanked out as it is though :D

Thinking I may have found a solution to my ugly heater problem...apparently this is possible:

I'll get some more pics up ASAP. I just added some star polyps and a few more shrooms today and I'll snap some shots before lights out.

How much you wanna give me for the 9"? I may actually try and fit it on my refugium on the big tank, not sure if it'll be enough though. You'll be the first to know.

Oh yeah, I went by the LFS today to get some salt and to get the latest coral flyer from her distributor to get an idea for my next order, probably getting some new leathers for the big tank. Last time I was in we chatted about pico reefs and I noticed on her counter she had a really small tank, probably 1gallon at the most. She had a lot of macros and some shroom nems and a baby goby of some sort. Pretty sure it was a really small green banded. The pico thing is definitely catching on :D

Alrighty, here are some pics, just got done fragging a kenya tree, first time I've fragged one, decided it may be best to put off feeding all of the corals until tomorrow night. That way I can spot feed the new frag and make sure the now traumatized colony in the other tank are open and ready to eat...hoping the open wound in the colony doesnt lead to a bunch of kenyas sprouting up all over the tank...although that would be nice to sell to the LFS for a little extra money :)

Man that little tank is looking great! Do you have any plans for inverts or fish?
