24G Nano Cube DX Nano Reef Setup

Wow, i have just read this thread from start to finish (all 26 pages of it!). Now i'm jealous, inspired, eager, awestruck and seriously planning ;) . I have seen ads in Oz for a Red Sea Max, any experiences/thoughts on their pros/cons?
A huge thumbs up to Steelhealr, amazing thread, thankyou for all your effort to let us share your experiences. And damn your tank is beautiful!

I know the feeling. The Red Sea Max is very expensive for what it is.

regaltang11, do you think you should create a new thread in which your tank can be discussed, because after all, this is steelhealr's journal.

SH, has your tank's crack stayed stable this whole time? Any plans to move your inhabitants to your prop tank, or would this be too difficult? I would be soooo nervous if i had put in so much work and the tank had a bloomin' great crack in it!

The hairline fissure remained stable. If you flip thru my thread above, there are pix of the fissure. SH

i just read through all 26 freakin pages. took me about 2 hours, but half of it was worth it :p you have an awesome tank, how did you fit that many coral into your tank? it seems like when one coral stops, another coral begins. how do you keep them from stinging each other, especially the euphyllia. by the way, the remora is supposed to have an o ring for the collection cup

ha ok i've just read all of that....i've gotta say u guys are ultra commited to this hobby... i just recently bought a 12 gallon dx nano cube with some live rock and alll the essentials... (i fancied a go at SW as i've had FW for many many years) and i've also got a 130 litre tropical tank with an awessome pleco....my favourite thing ever...lol he actually caught a danio and killed it and nibbled on it...i was totally gob struck :grr:

Hey Great thread! Awesome stuff. The normal person wouldve had to have forked over cash for all the information in this thread. Im still new at this and still going through this thread but had a question for you guys.

Which system do you think is better?

The Nano or the Aquapod ? 24 gallons.

Also, do you think the 12 is too small for a reef system even with all the technology in these things?

Thanks

Its been nearly 3 years since the LR arrived, lol.

This was a great thread, thanks steel for taking the time to post all this stuff. I'm considering an all-in-one for my first tank, and that "mod" for a refugium was great. I'm debating between a nano and bio cube, does anyone know if Biocubes have a backing that could be easily removed like the nano?

SH, man you rock, finally finshed reading the whole thread.
It has convinced me to go down the Nano Cube Route, which it arrived yesterday - Orca TL450 ((4 chambers = sponge - skimmer - heater - noodles)) Currently doing a "dry run" with just RO water in, checking temperature levels making sure that it stay stable with cycling the lights during the day/night. I'm going to add salt this weekend and finally take the plunge and add LR.

Any suggestions from anyone BEFORE I add salt and LR ?

SH this really is a fantastic thread that first inspired me to start my very own marine tank about a year ago and has really helped along the way.

Thanks for all you time and hard work pal ;)

This is a great thread thank you very much, I've just read through the whole lot and I'm sure I will again when I set up my D-D 24g up in Spring next year.

My D-D 24 gal turns up tomorrow and I have to say this thread has been a massive help! I am now all set with various mods all ready to carry out (especially the 'fuge' mod) and am picking my LR u at the weekend :D

Thanks for all the time and information you've put in to this journal. I for one have found it an invaluable reference point :thanks:
