I had oscars at one point in time and they shredded my plastic plants lol. I havent done angels yet (im not a big fan of them) but I have seen some glorious planted angel tanks. I acually forget most the time that angels are cichlids lol. I had electric yellows (you are speaking labs correct?) with Blue Zebras and Haplochromis sp. 35 Tomatoes, but they dug up aeverything.

All Oscars I've had have been pretty good with not killing the tank contents lol
Angels are stunning in a well planted tank, specially once they get some size on them
Electric Yellow (yep labs) were in with the maingano looked gorgeous with the yellow and blue contrast.

Ill have to experiment with plants in my next malawi setup. Thank you for sharing your experience. I didn't think it could be done. Any advice on anchoring plants? Is it safe to anchor them to the egg crate that I am putting under the rocks?

All rooted planted I protected the substrate from fishy disturbance with rocks/wood (depending on fish size as to rock/wood size) or used silk type fake plants jammed into rock, wood crevices. Mostly I used anubias and Java fern, both of these I either super glued to rocks/wood or tied (generaly glued as its easier and quicker)

OK different browser, and it looks like it will now let me link in the pic

That looks really nice, well done! I'm not a fan of dark substrate but here I really do like it :)

Thank you. I love dark substrate, though i do use lighter stuff too. Depends mainly on what fish i am putting in it i spose, some show off better depending on substrate colour :)

As I said it wont allow me to paste a link or use the add a pic box....so cant do that sorry
I think a few people are having problems with this at the moment, myself included.
There's a button in the top left of the toolbar on the reply box, it looks like a little light switch. It turns off rich text formatting in your reply and you can then paste links. It's just a workaround if you want to keep using IE11

Looking forward to seeing your latest picture

I've just switched over to Chrome for here, i have it open anyway as well as IE.

I tidied the tank up today, just letting it settle and will take a new pic :)

Still quite a bit of debris free floating, and i havent cleaned the glass yet lol

Nice growth! What are the twigs you've used in this tank?

Yeah, I'm happy with how its done, now I can put some effort into it, I hope to see it fill in nicely. Its back to being dosed and will be getting CO2 added.

The wood is Goldvine :)

Did a 50% WC on this tank today, cleaned up a few leaves. I've borrowed the internal from this tank to use in another, i will be replacing with another internal, one i can attach the CO2 tubing onto.

Pulled the canister down and gave it a good rinse and clean, getting much better flow now

Having to start to thin out the crypts planted in the middle back of the tank, am just moving them to different areas

Ok, i needed to catch the 2 peppermint BN to add them to the breeding colony. To do that i had to demolish the tank, all wood and plants have now been removed. All fish have too for the moment. I hope to start to rescape it tomorrow and get fish back in....

Will update with a pic when i get it done :)
