Whilst I normally suggest cramming a tank full of weeds at the start, there are a couple of exceptions when you can "get away" with it, namely a mature filter or no bio-load. NH4 is the biggest algae trigger (Tom Barr has suggested over 200x more than NO3) so if this is limited by having a mature filter or no fish then providing there's still a high plant bio-mass and CO2 etc. then slower growers can be planted from the start.My only concern is the lack of fast-growers to keep away algae.....
