Calling out expert electricians out there :) i was wondering if it is safe to run a 12V pc fan on a 12.5 V converter ? :) or would the fan explode ?

The voltage is fine, I run a 12 v and a 12.5 volt converter on pc fans with no problem.
One converter is 10 watts the other is 4.5 watts withy no noticable difference.
I think the amps may be of concern though, not sure, someone here should know more.

Shortens the life of the fan, but not too much. Makes the fan run faster as well, resulting in the shortening of the fan's life. Not much though, 12.5 and 12 volts aren't a big difference. Go for it.

shouldn't make much difference
electricity often fluctuates anyway... just reduces the life of the unit as it runs faster

now running 120v on that fan will probably melt it....

should be fine - most things have room for error - It will probubbly just spin faster slightly.

i have a follow up question !!

will it be bad if i hook more then on 12 V fan on the 12.5 converter :D ?? will it still work ???

As long as the voltage is close enough, it will be fine.

A 13 volt fan will run slower on the 12.5 volt converter. Not bad for the fan, just less power.

And a 12 volt fan will run faster on the 12.5 volt converter. Not good for the fan, more power, but shorter life.

*EDIT*
Sorry, misunderstood.

multiple fans are fine unless you exceed the wattage of the supply. For example if the supply is 12 W and the fan is 6W, then you can hook up two but no more. Its basically the amp draw. You don't want to draw more amps (or current) out of the supply than it is capable of supplying otherwise you will burn it up and it may actually melt and catch fire.

Another note if you wanted to put 12V on the fan, just put a small resistor is series to use up .5V and you will put 12V on the fan.

ooh ii ccc... so i cant connect more then two 12V fans on to the 12.5 V adapter ? i see i see i should go get a 24V adapter then ?

No, you can attatch as many 12v fans in paralell as you want to the adapter, as long as the total wattage (VoltsXamperage) does not exceed the capacity of the transformer. A 24V transformer would melt your fans.

Find out the wattage your fans require, then multiply that by the number of fans to get the total wattage. If that doesn't exceed the maximum rated wattage of the transformer, then you're good to go.

ahhh and so it gets more complicated ! i can do this ! ( i should have paid more attention to that electronics class before)

anways the fan is 12V DC with a label saying 1,4W (the comma is not a mistake)

the converter says 12.5V ---... (dots are under the ---) 400mA?

and that means....
