10g Mini Reef

watts per gallon is as unhelpful as oddysea customer service.

Look into 70 watt Mh lights, those would be good for lps dominated tank, they go for about 150 dollars.
wow..thats alot even for a 10g? ahah im looking up on some lights on a site i went to every one was talking about T-5s? is this like the king of all lights or something?

T5, MH, both are good, both have there own pros and cons. I personally think T5's are a waste of space and money on small tanks but are perfect for bigger tanks. Research both and make your own choice.

hah great thanks, man that was a fast reply i was just going to read over my post and you had posted a new one ahha,

but i have another question theres alot of different live rock are some harder to care for the others on a site im looking at, dr. something and smith. Theres like 8 or 9 ones

no, they have different shapes, different qualities (porous vs dense), and different hitchhikers if taken from different parts of the world. Look at www.tampabaysaltwater.com and www.sealifeinc.net, those live rock dont follow regular US live rock laws so they will have more life on them.

Agreed, probably the simplest option. your only other choice with a tank that short is 23 or 36 watt power compacts really. The halide is simpler. Just one unit

plus halides give a great asthetic effect which PC's dont give. Shimmer lines, like the actual sun.

There is another option.... LED lights, but those run in the thousands of dollars and it hasnt been proven to be good technology long term.

okay so it is the 70watt mhs? is MH just a short form for something.

na i didnt see it....

MH stands for metal halide (double ended halides are also known as HQI and/or murcury discharge lamps)

ahh okay great, i should start buying lights and power heads with in 2 or 3 weeks but i see have to do alot more reading before i get saltwater or LR

i would get the lights but not the powerhead yet, you need to know how much flow your corals like before you get the powerhead.
