    Chocolate Cichlids

Do you think that these fish would do better with oscars or uarus. Could someone let me know. I have found information going both ways. :S Thanks

    new oscars

I have heard of plenty of people sucessfully keeping an oscar in a 55 gallon tank. You could probably get away with you sisters but I would not recommend it. I even have a friend who keeps a very large oscar in a 29 gallon tank. :hyper: I know, I ***** at him about it all the time but he wont...

    Quick Question

I am not really sure. I have not heard that theory before. My firemouths tend to get darker and more vibrant when they are p*&&^# off at something. I have also heard that they will get more vibrant during mating, so maybe you're going to hear the pitter patter of little fins soon. :kana:

    Advice quick

My advice is always to go with the cichlids and get rid of the rest. No fish can compare witha cichlid. If you think so, well, you're wrong! :alien:

    Books

I would like to find a good New World cichlid book or two. Does anyone know some great ones? I want one that will cover everything from breeding to tank decoration and also a great list of the different species w/ pictures.

    Oscar

You could probably get by with a 55 gallon. I would not try anything smaller. If you do get the bigger tank eventually, you should switch the oscar to that tank at that time. For now, a 55 will work though. Be sure to do frequent water changes because Oscars are messy eaters but make up for...

What is the most owner responsive cichlid?

 Let us decide democratically what is the best cichlid when it comes to owner responsiveness. Please feel free to make comments, tell us why you voted a certain way, and what you think should have been on the list.

    blood parrot questions

Severums are a decent tank mate for these fish. None of my parrots have ever gotten so big that I couldn't put them back in a 30 gallon. I have four of them in a 125 gallon and I think that two of them could deal with a 30 gallon as long as you do water changes often and it is not a hexagon...

    new fishes for me!

You are probably going to hate me for this but I will say it. Just let them jump out once while you are there. Be sure to put them back in right away though. They should learn. My oscar did this when he tried to jump up and bite his food container and now he knows to just stay at the...

    Parrots

My parrots have tended to change their colors more often than any cichlid I have ever had. My two oldest were originally albino and orange. About a year later they switched. The albino changed to gold and the gold one changed to albino. Then occasionally they will have variations of these or...

    Waroos?

I am in western Nebraska. I doubt if that helps locate a store but if it does then I would love it. Oh, come on Michael Roth, you're just making me jealous now.

Tiger wont eat pellets but will eat fish and bugs

Maybe try flakes or switching brands. Some fish just dont like certain brands. I had an oscar that would not eat pellets because they made him sick. He liked flakes though.

    Oscarz

I like to keep moveable stuff in my tank for my Oscar. I think it is amazing to watch them design their own living quarters. This just my opinion though. You may not want to see your Oscar turn into to one of the fab-five.

    Waroos?

I am looking to buy a few Waroos or Auarus, whichever way you want to spell it? Does anyone know a place that has them and will ship them?

    I'm Brand-Spanking New

Hi, I am new to this forum. I am 23 and keep cichlids. I found these fish about three years ago and am now hooked. I love to ask and answer questions about cichlids so this forum is perfect. I am also thinking about going into saltwater aquariums when I win the lottery so I can research those...
