I currently have two parrots. One is black, the other is yellow/black. They are not full grown yet, I would say they are in an adolescent stage as they are the size inbetween the small and the adult parrots. Anyways.. I just had a couple of questions..

1) How can you sex them? Because my two are always swimming/rubbing up against each other. I am just wandering if I have a male and a female.

2) Sometimes my black one will get some really intensive stripes going on his body. Is this a sign of stress?

I had another but I forgot it XD So if anyone could answer those two questions it would be very helpful. Thanks! :D

I dont know a lot about parrots but as no one else is answering you i'll try.
I dont think that it's a trate of a parrot to rub against each other at breeding time and i dont think that they show stripes either this to me sounds like agression.

i maybe wrong and maybe you should search for more info on the web i think there must be sites dedicated to the parrot.

My parrots have tended to change their colors more often than any cichlid I have ever had. My two oldest were originally albino and orange. About a year later they switched. The albino changed to gold and the gold one changed to albino. Then occasionally they will have variations of these or develop and lose spots. I haven't been able to figure out why. I have also heard that parrots tend to get in the mood for love very often and this could be a reason. As for sexing them, I have not a clue. Maybe fin length but my parrots have always been sterile mules. This is too bad because I really love them and consider them my favorite cichlid.

i think like most cichlids you have to wait to see if they lay eggs, as for color changeing i dont know why they do it but they do i dont think it means anything because they dont seem to be stressed or what ever it is when there changeing. With the tail whiping they might be fighting/or checking out each other. What size tank are they in because they might be fighting over tank space.
