Hmm, attempt one didn't work, but had enough hose to replace the manky old ones, and enough to allow me to syphon from the bucket!!

Never thought of doing it that way, was going to use the pump to do the work..

But it won't be dechlorinated.... :no: or do you add the dechlorinator directly to the tank ?

The water removal isn't the issue, already have a length of tubing that I use to syphon the water out whilst hoovering the bottom, just wanted to make the pump work for me. Gonna give it a go and report back :)

Thinking of making water changes easier to do, has anyone added T pieces to the inlet/outlet piping to enable the pump to bring the new water into the tank? Struggling to find anywhere that does the right size T Pieces and valves.. :(

Thinking today after doing a water change of putting T valves between the tank and filter on both inlet and outlet pipes, then use the pump in the filter to pump out the water and pump the dechlorinated water back in.. gotta be less messy and easier than a bucket and jug :) Anyone done this?

Hi, had a 150ltr tank for a couple of months, cycled perfectly, and added 8 fishe a couple of weeks ago, now I need to do a water change. Removing and adding the water isn't an issue, the temperature is, how do I change the water without shocking the fish with cold water, also how much water...

Long time no update, anyway, all is well, had a week of ammonia and Nitrites down to zero in 12 hours, done a 50% water change and last weekend got some fishes :D 3 Pearl Angelfish and 5 Gouramis still some more fish to get, but having to explain to the better half why Brakish fish are no good...

At last, getting somewhere!! Ammonia is zero after 24 hours last night, and so was the Nitrites :) Nitrates around 80ppm, so now to find out how quickly it's all happening :)

Thanks Fish Fanatic, I have been cycling for 6 weeks now, Ammonia is going within 24 hours or there abouts, Nitrites still way above 5ppm and no increase in Nitrates for 2 weeks... Still being patient though. :)

Still no real change, is it usual for Nitrites to take this long to convert?

Still no change, Ammonia back to near zero after 24 hours, NItrites through the roof and Nitrates still at 20ppm. My wife is getting annoyed at the lack of fish... :hyper:

Wierd results last night, Ammonia is going great, cleared in 24 hours, so redosed. Nitrites still off the scale Nitrates dropped to 10ppm... What would cause this, not changed water..

Thanks :) Ammonia at 2ppm last night after dosing, so it seems to be dropping quicker now, Nitrites were off the charts again and Nitrates at 20ppm..

Quick Q.. I haven't done any water changes yet, is it advisable to do water changes whilst fishless cycling? if so, how much.

Ammonia to 1ppm tonight, so re added back up to 4ppm. Nitrites were through the roof, a nice deep shade of purple Nitrates rising nicely, now 20ppm....

Nitrites over 5ppm tonight, Ammonia the same, Nitrates slowly incerasing, now somewhere between 5-10ppm PH is 7.6...

Good news last night, Ammonioa dropped to 2ppm, Nitrites were up to 5ppm, :) Progress is being made

OK, fourth day in a row the Ammonia is at 4.0ppm and the Nitrites at 1.0ppm Is this normal?

Hmm, seems to have stalled for a few days now, still at 4.0ppm Amm and 1ppm Nitrite...

Ammonia still the same last night, Nitrites up to between 0.5 and 1ppm :) Slowly getting there.

Should I also start getting algae? noticed a thin film on the suckers that hold the heater and pump pipes in place.

Day 7 and ammonia looks like no change but 0.25 Nitrites!! woohoo

Day 5 in the tank, still no change.. Looking at other logs, might start seeing Nitrites over the weekend...

24 hours after adding 5ppm Ammonia, we have 4ppm on the test with no nitrates.

Thanks :) Well, did a base test, no ammonia, Nitrites and just a little Nitrates, PH 7.4 Ammonia added, just got to keep testing it daily now..

Right, brand new tank, some great advice on here already and my testing kit has arrived. Managed to get ammonia from Homebase, so we are all set for tonight. Tank has been filled for about a week now, so readings of that when I get home... Quick question though, I have been declorinating the...
