Nectode, it was definately BGA, no doubt about it and it was such a pain for so long. It was covering everything and that rancid smell...yuk! then poof, visibly gone. Themuleous, good point! I'll take nectodes advice and give the plant a diluted bleach dip.

Ask the store employees if they know what the wood was treated with. I've come across reptile items that were supposed to be ok for aquariums. Check out the label and see if you can find a company name and give them a call.
