    Done? Please?

Looks like your done. When you add fish do it slowly say 3 fish at a time. then wait a week or so before you add anything else. Shrimp etc should only be added when the tank is stable. The shrimp/ guppies more than likely died due to the tank cycling.

    Gravel Or Sand?

For the Cichlids I would probably stay with gravel. Just for the main reason being they will dig, blow and disrupt the sand which can make your tank look not so clear all the time.

New Guy Here. Per Request I Have Some Of My Tanks Pictured.

A little about myself. I have had aquariums since 1988. I started off with a freshwater tank that my mom had, and gradually over time went to saltwater. Stayed there for quite a few years and then went to a reef tank. Then I switched back just last December to try my hand at planted tanks...

    Growing Copepods

Also it would be benifical to get some type of macro algae to either put in your fuge if you have one, a tank you will strictly use for the pods or the main tank. The macro alage will not only give the pods a safe place to breed and hide, but it will also help remove nitrates and make the tank...

    Longhorn Cow Fish

I agree with the others. Any new addition will most liely not eat for a day or two since they are stressed form there move from the LFS to the car to your house and then the tank. Give them time and they will come around, its not uncommon for new fish to not eat for days. ALso the hiding...

The easiet way to do this is to drill a tiny hole in the return line right above the water line of the main tank. Once you shut off power to the return pump, air will be sucked into...

    Water From The River.

I dont know if I would use water from a river stream etc. You dont know what is in the water. It might look clear etc, but it could carry not only disease, pollution, but could also have parasites you dont want in your tank. The best bet would to use tap water, de chlorinate it and let the tank...

    Tiger Barbs With Bala Sharks

The barbs,Bala's and loaches should be fine together. You have to be careful with smaller fish the size or neons as if they are small enough to fit into someones mouth they will end up there.
