Day 48 fish in cycling ammonia: 0ppm Nitrite: 0ppm for 2 days now, ill check again tmrw to be sure, but i think im done!!! Its been a long journey!!!

total fish losses: 2 male guppies :(, and 1 shrimp (never found the body).

Looks like your done. When you add fish do it slowly say 3 fish at a time. then wait a week or so before you add anything else. Shrimp etc should only be added when the tank is stable. The shrimp/ guppies more than likely died due to the tank cycling.

give it at least a week of 0 readings to be sure. I had a couple of days of 0's, then for some reason they crept up again.......so just be certain before you add fish.

Yes, it is correct I think to say you have passed the test of being cycled when a fish-in cycle goes two days without water changes and shows no traces of either ammonia or nitrite(NO2) in that time, so its definately a time to be happy and feel you're going to be finished with all the hard water changing probably.

But I agree with ZZ that before you actually start adding any new fish, you'd want to watch it continue to test without traces for a week or so just to be sure. This emulates the "qualifying week" of fishless cycling except of course your fish are supplying the ammonia, not you! And at the end of a fish-in cycle of a new tank the bacterial colonies, although sufficient now, are not as robust as they will be 6 months from now, so you do want your first fish additions to be quite small.
