My girlfriend gave me her old 3.5G tank for the babies, so there are 3 fry in there about 3 days old, will they bother...

    Dwarf Ghouramis Male Or Female?

I've got 2 Dwarf Ghouramis, and I know that I think it was OM who said that the females are made to look like the male (with hormones). I would like to try and add a picture but not sure how, so that maybe somebody could let me know if they think I have a male and a female. Anyone, let me know...

One Question...Now That Tank Is Cycled

Thanks OM I am in the US, and I did find a female online at Petsolutions but they are out of stock right now. The picture of the female they show on Petsolutions is a drab silver and not any color like the male has.

One Question...Now That Tank Is Cycled

OK so I followed arobinson's advice but I'm trying to find 2 female Dwarf Ghouramis, no one (not even online) seems to have any. I called my LFS and most don't carry females. Any suggestions on where I might find them would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Sad Day

Sorry to hear about this Robby, you've given me some great advice and I hate to hear about something like this. I can only have my one 12 gallon tank, but would like a bigger tank, having been out of work for 6 months now, I can't afford that new tank. I think the economy will pick up and...

OK so the tank has cycled! Today I added some fish here is a list: 4 Zebra Danios ( Small) 3 Rasboras (Sm.) 3 Peppered Corys 1 Dwarf Ghourami 1 Black Molly My question is, how long does it take for the bacteria to start to get some ammonia, and nitrite so they don't die out? I am not feeding...

    Aqueon Water Conditioner

I just happenned to be looking at my bottle of water cond. and I noticed the following on the back of the bottle: "Detoxifies heavy metals, ammonia, and other elements released from fish waste". Just wondered if it is OK to use if it Detoxifies Ammonia, as I am about to do a 90% water change in...

    Cause To Celebrate!

I'm considering 2 peppered corys, some Zebra Danios, 3 black skirted Tetras, and maybe 2 other community fish that I haven't decided on yet.

    Cause To Celebrate!

Well after 67 days I am finally getting double zeroes in my 12 gal. tank at 12 hours or less. I had made up my mind that tomorrow I was going to do a 90% water change and add fish , I even went to Petsmart today to see what they had in stock. This evening I told my girlfreind " change of...

I Claim Ignorance... Where Is My Nitrate Going?

Thanks Rebrn all the lot#'s are from 04, 06, or 07 of 2009. So I should be OK. I will be testing the Nitrate soon and will shake bottle #2 up real good, and knock it up against. We'll see how it goes. Thanks.

I Claim Ignorance... Where Is My Nitrate Going?

Thanks for all the input...No the tank has no plants in it, just 2 ornaments. I will try hitting bottle #2 against something next time because I am getting a reading of about 80, but that never seems to change regardless of the fact that I get double zeroes every 24 hrs., I'm actually getting an...

I Claim Ignorance... Where Is My Nitrate Going?

I guess I don't get it yet , if from what I have read the Ammonia turns into Nitrite and the Bacteria in turn turns the Nitrite into Nitrate. OK I am in day 60 I get double zeroes every 24 hrs., and my Nitrate level does not seem to be changing ( That I can tell). So where is it going if the...

Dr. Tim'S One & Only Nitrifying Bacteria Does It Work?

Hi Rebrn, I purchased the Dr. Tim's from Reds Pets, it came in a box that was a foam cooler with a cold pack. I added 3 times the dosage because I knew from what you had said that for more than 2ppm you have to add a higher dose. The bottle said you can't overdose so I added a little more. I...

Dr. Tim'S One & Only Nitrifying Bacteria Does It Work?

Ok at about 2PM CST today I added the Dr. Tim's one and only, it appears early on as if it has stopped the cycling process. It may be too early to tell but within the next hour my ammonia level would be at zero... Its not even close. I figure I'll know more tomorrow.

Dr. Tim'S One & Only Nitrifying Bacteria Does It Work?

Dr. Tim'S One & Only Nitrifying Bacteria Does It Work?

Thanks for updating, for the last 6 weeks I have been getting double zeroes on the ammonia (at 24hrs.) except for 1 nitrite spike 1 day. For those same 6 weeks I have also been getting 0 ammonnia at 12 hours (or less), so that is why I have been so impatient...so close but yet so far. I hope to...

My current levels: Day 21, 12 gallon tank Ammonia: 0.0 PH: 6.4 ( So I panic and do a 90% wc, as my tap water is PH7.5) Then I made my biggest mistake, I thought by now I could remove the mature filter media) Just have my filter media that was under it and the bio-wheel now. Day 21: readings...

    Not Again

Any ideas why after adding a dose of ammonia I suddenly see all these worms floating around. I've been dosing the tank with ammonia for weeks now, and then all of a sudden I add a dose and see all these worms floating around...BTW they are all gone again, maybe they are in the filter media now.
  34. R

Yes, but I did clean it out with hot water... Edit: I just realized I did not clean the Bio-Wheel (Whoops)

    Not Again

OM I found 1 on the front of the tank and I have a 10x jewelers loupe, so I looked at it and it appears to be red on close observation. It is about 2 to 3mm, and it is thinner a both ends don't know if this helps narrow it down...

    Not Again

Thanks Kelly, the only thing that closely resembled what I'm seeing is the picture where it shows " Misc. Wormy things". I don't have a microscope so I can't really see what they look like in detail. They just look like small white threads, and lots of them free floating in the tank.
