Hi thanks for everyones input, got the new heater today everything back in order, all the fish survived thank god, surprisingly it didn't really seem to bother them too much but got temperature back upto normal again :)

sounds like a plan, have managed to get one of my electric fires next to it and thats heated it to 24degrees which is better than the 18 it was at, will try ur technique soon too, thanks for ur input

One of my tanks, the 6 footer has just lost its heater, water is stone cold, well room temperature cold at minute, have tried fixing it, new fuse and everything. All the fish seem fine now they survived a power cut few months back and had no heat for about 6 hours, but this time I have to wait...

Hi I have four large silver dollars around 8-9 inches. They are amazing fish and one of my favourite, but just how big do they get or are they maximum size now? I've had them from being about size of 50pences

My favourite fish are the silver dollars they are amazing things, I got them when they were about the size of a 50p now they about size of dinner plates lol. Great personalities u can put ur hand in and touch them, if the firemouths don't try nip ur fingers lol

Not really they've settled in real well now, when they were younger they used to get a bit aggressive but mellowed out now, its a very peaceful tank, except for feeding lol when it turns into a frenzy
