    Sudden disease

It sounds like a parasite. Bacteria can't move that fast. Try adding salt to your tank like simper fi suggested. I keep salt in all my tanks and never have a problem with parasites. 1 teaspoon = 5 milliliters.

    some input please

My N. Brichardi is going back to the store for that exact same reason. I can't put anything new in the tank because of her, unless it's 3 times her size. Any fish in the Brichardi complex tend to be more aggressive of the Tanganyikans. I've had her for 3 years now and as time goes by she just...

    firemouth cichlids

I have seen some firemouths that were possesed by evil demons though. With Firemouths it's a throw up as to weather you get a peacefull one or an evil one. You might be better off with a Rainbow Cichlid. Or trio of Keyhole cichlids. Keyholes are wonderful, one of the few cichlids that enjoy each...

    Female Bettas

My wife want bettas. And I have a 29gla sitting in the basement collecting dust. I was wondering if it would be possiable to stock it with 5 or 6 female bettas only? Or could I keep a male in with them? I am planning to filter with a AC mini and decorating the tank with various live plants and...

    Tank backgrounds

I bought my 66gal at a yardsale, I stumbled across. So I had no plans for an additional tank at the time. SO I had to scrounge for equipment to set it up. Well I had everything except the backer. I was taking out the garbage later on that night and it hit me. Now my 66gal has a 33 gal black...

    Blue Crayfish with my Cichlids?

I made the mastake of adding a blue crayfish to my Tanganyikan tank about a year ago. My N. Buscheri started picking him apart as soon as he hit the water. The Bsucheri got one of his eyes before I could get him out. He resided in my oddball tank until he molted and wondered into the cave my...

Top Fin 55 gallon aquarium stand

I personally have never liked the Topfin products. In addition to your stand compaire the thickness of the glass on your topfin and say an Allglass. The glass is much thinner and is not bevelled by the water/sand method as an Allglass. Although they are cheaper they are not constructed as well...

Snails and snails and more snails

How big is your tank, because clown loaches get 12 to 16 inches. A asain bumblebee cat might be more advantagious for getting rid of you snail problem. They only get 7 to 8 inches and love snails. Snails are almost as hard to get rid of as Algae. snailbegone is a good site that might answer your...

    Black Calvus

Calvus do well with most other Tanganyikans. If they are 3 or 4 inches then they are proably about 5 years old or so. Calvus are extreamly slow growers. I keep mine with N. Buscheri, N. Bachardi, N. Lepeupi, N. Tret and Julidochromis with very few problems. As for a 29 gal a Pair would do just...

    compatability..

You might get some bickering between you Alto comps and your Alto Calvus. But other than that I think you wil be ok with what you have as long as you add them all at the same time. There will always be bickering but they are cichlids. Mine bicker but rarely cause damage. Tanganyikans are the...
