Hi, are these fish ok to keep in a community tank? How big do they grow, and are they agressive?

since they are cichlids, they can be aggressive, but are farther down on the level of aggression than most americans. they are great community fish. a very nice addition to the communtiy tank. what are you considering putting them with? they will get more aggressive when defending eggs or fry. they get to be about 8", although did see a monster firemouth in a lfs that was about 12".

I have seen some firemouths that were possesed by evil demons though. With Firemouths it's a throw up as to weather you get a peacefull one or an evil one. You might be better off with a Rainbow Cichlid. Or trio of Keyhole cichlids. Keyholes are wonderful, one of the few cichlids that enjoy each others company.

Another good choice for a community tank would be the festivum or Mesonauta festivus (scientific name)

Yes Yes Yes excellent suggestion Cichlid master. I have wanted one of those for ages. My LFS just can't seem to get thier hands on one. I had one when I lived in Florida in my 55gal with Assorted community fish with no problems.
