    Cleaning Tips

I personally use one of those metal scouring pads out of the water, and the green scrubby side of those kitch sponges in the water. Anything you use, give em a good clean 1st, rinse many times just to be safe! :)

Yo Andy and all, still not come up with an aesthetically pleasing house design that me AND my wife like! Spoilt for choice when you design you own home with few constraints. But so spoilt it gets mad, must have done 60 designs so far, each taking a few hours uo to a week to design...

Large Aquarium Design. Help Tips Etc Req.

Nope, plans changing all the time. A concrete base would still be an option just for the aquarium, BUT if i go for a pond style the bedrock is just 12" down so i would go down to that for the support and have a 2-3ft deep pond with an island or tree coming out of the middle? I know this is a...

Is This A Good Wet/dry Filter Setup?

Cheers, mine could end up looking like anything at the moment, very dependent on the actual house design. I have made paladariums. Never made a fake rock waterfall yet but thats what i would reccomend for the phone box. Whats the box made of and can we see photos?

Is This A Good Wet/dry Filter Setup?

Ah, very nice! your right with the pressure though, needs to be pretty thick and gets amazingly thicker every 12" after 24. Would be awesome to have the full size setup but obviously very expensive. There are ways or cleverly using several seperate tanks, big ones, slim ones etc to give the...

Large Aquarium Design. Help Tips Etc Req.

Hi all, incorporating a few previous ideas and rereading the whole thread i like something Miss Wiggle said about planting a tree in a pond area of a paladarium which reaches out into the room. So, thinking a large pond, waterfall, river, etc certainly plants, possibly bonzie style, otherwise...

Is This A Good Wet/dry Filter Setup?

hi, remember to cover the dry area too as constant tiny splashes can add up to a lot of water loss and a damp floor! Is that a custom tank? whos making it? its very deep, will look awesome, what thickness and glass or acrylic?

How Much Sand Do I Need To Order? Tetra Aquaart 60litre

and you can always order another at a later date if your plants are being dug up and floating off a lot. I like a good 1" + substrate, average, 1/2 at front, 1 1/2 at back, but others like it thin... depends on fish, substrate, plants and personal preference as well as budget! Please post a...

    Faulty Filter

Hiya, not sure why its not blowing bubbles, but if its still blowing water and the tank isnt overcrowded i wouldnt worry about the pool guppies, its the movement and the the surface area which initially aerates the water. Much more to it than that but thats the basics. is it this filter? with...

How Much Sand Do I Need To Order? Tetra Aquaart 60litre

Hi, in my experience sand is approx 2.75kg per 12"x12" at 1" deep. So whats the size of the bottom of the tank? how deep do you want it? do the sums! :good: Oh and thats about 6lbs per 2.75 kgs, so a 20lbs bag would be about 40"x12" at 1" deep.... hope i havent confused things completely...

Aquarium Lighting For A Heavily Planted Tropical Tank? Help!

I know it shouldnt be in this section but just a quick reply... I have heard great things for under tank heating and under gravel heating being amongst the best ways to promote decent plant growth. This was right from an expert too so worth a try! :)

need equipment for a big tank. Help!

Another option is in-line pond filters, these come in all kinds of sizes and can have UV filters etc too, that would be the cheapest ways to have a big filter system. Practical too, particularly the in-line pond filters, you can add these too and have 2-3 etc to go really overkill. 2 pond...

Need A Chiller For A 10g Freshwater Aquarium!

YO! I personally would scrap the heater, whats the lowest end of the room temp in Florida? A 10g shouldn't fluctuate fast enough to stress the fish. Dont keep the tank in a draught though, not anywhere near the window for any additional heating through sun rays! More aeration, more water...

    Smashed Tank Base

sometimes better safe than sorry. If you can affort to have the shop replace the bottom thats best! What frame do you have under the poly? or is it a full surface? I think 1.5" may be too thick, it may allow the glass to bow due to it being squishable. I use 1/2" for my 5 and 6 ft. My...

    Faulty Filter

Most filters dont throw out bubbles unless they have a snorkel or and inlet. Is it still blowing water? bubbles are good but theres loads of factors which oxygenate the water. This is a water pump not an air pump? What model filter is it? Can you take a photo of the tank an email it or post...

just look for 'head' or similar in the specs, it will tell you how high it can raise water. have just looked and found it... http://www.arowana-im.com.ua/images/Tetrat...EX%20Filter.pdf 600 is 1.2 metres 700 is 1.5 metres. So... the distance from the top of the pump to the highest point...

Hi, weight wise its hard, but if you have the help to turn it and the help to silicone it, i would stick right under the other. BUT, definitely silicone ontop and underneath the crack too, do a line over the crack, lick you finger and push the silicone into the crack. If by smashed you mean...

Hi charlton, theres a few background ideas and designs within the first page in this section of the forum... My points are the following... Cement needs sealing still or it affects PH, Milliput can be used in tank. theres a few brands of marine putty, they set in the water and are safe. Not...

    Building A Background

cement and pont paint would work well! Leaving it to cure doesnt always work, the lime and other things can usually redically effect the water PH. BUT if you pondpaint over it, you can get pond sealent specifically for cement. You can also colour cement easily easpecially if your sealing it...
