    Clown Knife Relocating

I don't.. not yet... the 50 was given to me, so it is a tempoary home while I figure in the next step. I've been trying to find him a home... nobody can take him, so at this point, and with tight finances til summer (I'm a waitress), he's going to live in the 50, he'll be comfortable for enough...

    United States Fish Store Directory

My review of the same store: Variety/Selection: Only refer to FW as that's all I deal with - 7 - nothing too odd, but large variety of common species Cleanliness/Quality: 6 - Lots of dead fish, staff appears too busy to deal with the mess Knowledge & Friendliness: Manager of FW department...

    Getting A Puffer

I've been studying and researching Puffers for a few days now, and have decided I can work with some of the smaller species, I really like the Amazon Puffer's "Colomesus Asellus" and the Avacado Puffer "Auriglobus Modestus", also called the Golden Puffer. First question is could I keep one of...

    Puffers And Pleco?

Well, poor Pleco has been picked on enough in the year I've had him. He's been tankmates with my ever growing Clown Knife Fish for about 7 months now. The CKF constantly badgers Pleco and steals his food when he can. Pleco is throughly shy, yet very capable of defending himself because of it...

    Clown Knife Relocating

I'm moving my Clown Knife to my newly set up 50 G tank at home. The lady in the LFS had some ideas, but I wasn't keen on them and most of it isn't possible. I've set up the heater and filtration in my 50 G today. I've put fresh de-clorinated water into it. It's slowly warming up and the new...

    Puffers And Pleco?

I'm looking into possibly adding a puffer to my soon-to-be-lonely-Pleco's 30 G tank at my place of business. First question in this would be if ANY of the species of Puffers (larger than dwarf) are compatible with Pleco, or should I just move him out into my 20 at home? More questions on...

    Sick Puffer?

I know very little of puffers, admitedly. Though I had a neighbor who's SW tank I admired often. He had (I believe still "has") a Dogface Puffer who's tail was "broken". He swam kind of sideways, but otherwise seemed very happy and healthy. I lived there for 4 years and he was still going...

How Do People Put Water Back In Tank After Water Change ?

5 gal bucket, with the de-chlor already added, big plate on the bottom of the tank to keep from stirring things up, lift and pour! Works great for me, never have to adjust gravel or ornaments.

    What Can I Add?

Happy birthday and good luck with the froggies!!! I've never known them to leap out of tanks, but if they can get their feeties into the edge of the breeder netting they may try and climb in... I had one climb into my HOB filter a few years ago.

Pond Care Advice For Neglected Pond

Just a gardeners note: that icky sluggy stuff you clean out of the bottom.... spread it lightly around any existing gardens. Plants love that stuff.

    Canister Filters

My quarentine tank had a cheap whisper filter in it, very similar to the one you are describing. In the event that the bag the charcol is placed in is actually a part of the filtration process itself, those bags can be bought seperatly, with no charcoal. I've seen there it is an option to have...

    Clown Knife Fish

I've heard they can get very big in their natural habitat, but I've also read through months of research that in capiivity it is very difficult to get them over 18 inches. I'm determined to be a success story with my CKF, just need to find a proper place to put that giant tank in my house :)

    Need A New Fish...

Some of you have read my adventure in the newbies section of my infamous "Spot" CKF and his travels from tank to tank. He's moving out of the sushi bar into a bigger tank in my home. So I'm left with a really nice 30 gal set up in the sushi bar with a lonely Pleco. I'm interested in a fish...

    Hi From Maine

that's my theory... although I don't think I have a place in my house where the suggested 6'x3'x2' tank will fit!!! He'll be ok in the 50 for a bit while I figure out my next step. He'll be bummed that he's leaving the faces at he bar, but there just isn't room for him there anymore :(

    Hi From Maine

Awww, you sound like my sushi chef!!!! I'm a bleeding heart, I just can't bear to let someone eat my baby. I've tried to return Spot to a local pet shop (I'm afriad to travel more than an hour or two)... mind you, "local" in Maine is a relative term... this it "the back country" and most...

    Clown Knife Fish

Sorry, have to giggle. I've experienced the same problem with my now 12" CKF. I've learned that while there is no nutritional value in these for my poor "Spot"... it's simply a territorial thing. "I'm eating it just so you can't have it" syndrome. They're like a 3 year old with a vegetable...

    Canister Filters

Wow. and again... wow. I've been digging all day looking for the right filter for my new 50 g tank. I've ruled out the "under gravel" system that I've recieved parts of with the tank, too dangerous to test on a fish I'm commited to keeping alive. I have been looking at "Power filters" Also...

    Hi From Maine

Hi all... yes, I'm new in here. Not so new to fish, but I'm sure a beginner in many people's minds. Short run down of my tank experience... ok, not so short, but it's important to questions that will come later. 3 years ago my 5 year old wanted "underwater frogs"... so I did my research...
