Just an update... It was actually the barb that was attacking the other fish and not the betta. I've since removed the barb and have him in his own small, temporary tank. Not sure what I'm going to do with him now.

Actually, BOIL the bogwood for a few hours. This will make sure that there is nothing in the wood to harm the fish and it also removes a lot of the tannins. The tannins will make your tank the colour of ROOTBEER! :sick:

Well, I did try a Rena 50 but it was almost as loud as the Hagen 800 that I had. I bought a Tetra 10 yesterday and it is SOOOO very much quieter. I don't even notice that it's running!

I've scoured the forums trying to figure out which pumps seem to be the quietest. I don't mind the bubbles and water noise, but the buzzing of the airpump is too much. I've made sure that it isn't vibrating against anything... I've even picked the pump up and held it up by the eletrical cord...
