IMO I would say that the 0.6 ammonia will do little damage in a short period of time, but like rdd1952 said, it will do damage in the long run. Some people actually use shrimp instead of cheap hardy fish to cycle their tanks...personally fishless cycling is the way to go. Hope that helped

How do you make sure guppies are inbred? Are the ones at the pet store inbred?

i got that when I was cycling my tank as well. it cleared up iin a few days. As long as your water smells earthy rather than fishy, then there's nothing to worry about.

I don't know what to say...if the female is picky and needs men to fight over her in order to breed...then i guess that's okay..? As long as the owner doesn't turn it into a sport or thinks its funny. If he took it very seriously and removed the male who got injured out of the tank right...

if you feed your betta with "betta food" you bought, the pellets are not too big for her. A healthy betta will eat like a pig, so a sick betta (may/will) refuse to eat. It could also be that he/she is just very picky with his/her food. If you got him/her at your LFS, he/she would've ate pellets...

The question is....do bettas fight in the wild for breeding rights? I always thought that the males stay away from each other and make bubble nests to impress the females. And the bigger the nest, the more impressed the female will be... :blink:
