I had 1 male & 3 female. The male chose a female & they spawned. I never did anything special. How ever when it came time to moving out their tankmates(Pencilfish) they got so spooked/stressed and stopped eating & died. I made sure the water was clean & warm but still couldn't keep them alive...

1st 1 look like a male to me. 2nd pic is hard to tell but it could be a female. Can you get another pic of the 2nd ram? How old are they & how big? When small or young it's hard to tell.

Whats OTT? Over the top? I don't intend on breeding them but if it happens... I plan on having other fish too. I'll probably get a pair of JD's(maybe just 1),a shoal of dithers, & a plec or 2(depending on size/type). Thanks cheesy feet.

I talked to my local "Cichlid Godess/expert" and she says they look like Blue Acaras. I have to get her better pix but I'm sort of relieved they're not GT's.

Nice bettas. I like your choice in names. I have a female just like your except she's alot smaller, shes still a baby. I find the Red on white nice for females. When I saw her I had to get her. I usually always see the dark colors. Great CT as well.

I think it was an EDJD. I've seen her in a few thread talking about her EBJD. I'd like to own one, but I'm scared I don't have enough experience with cichlids. I managed to snap a few pix with my old cam. A few of the pix pick up the blue flecs but not really. The pix show a lil under the chin but not the flecs on the body. Pretty much where you see the bright gold flecs thats where the blue would be. Please excuse the water marks, this is my QT tank...

I had a similar prob with my plec. Try some zucchini. They luv it & most fish tend to leave it alone. Algae wafer are also something you might want to try. Also try feeding it @ night/light out. Feed the JD and others on 1 side and place the plec food on the other side. I'm thinking of Giant...

But they're not meant to be food just treats a few every few weeks cause theres really no other nutrients the fish needs in them.

Clean warm water & good quality food is what bettas thrive on. I'd suggest placing a mirror in front of him once he get stronger. This will help him get exercise & he'll be a stronger swimmer. Another way you could heat the tank is to add a desk lamp over to top of the tank/bowl. Glad to see...
