Now that I have my tank up and running, all levels being great, would it be normal to lose a few fish when 1st introduced to the tank? Stress from the move/introduction into their new home? Obvisouly I ask since I lost #2 Danios in 48 hrs. the rest look fine. rob

Well I think I am there- I checked after 12 hours tonight and both ammonia and nitrites were ZERO. I added more ammonia and when I get home in the morning I will check again which will be roughly a 11 hour gap. thanks rob

Hello all- My latest #'s are as follows- put ammonia in to equal ammonia = 5 13hrs later Nitrite = 0 Ammonia = 1 I would have thought that the ammonia would drop to zero before the nitrite? Otherwise do you think I am heading in the right direction? rob

i have read alot of threads about over abundance of snails. I have a tank with some convics in it that just destroy the snails, but they are not community friendly. any ideas? rob

ddmcg- Hang in there, as you know it could take 8+ weeks for it to cycle fully. Did you start out with any media from another tank?

I am finding that out, it just seems that I am doing well and then...it stalls, now I know why.

No driftwood, I am in the process of trying to cycle the tank. The only live matter in there is some plants, which have died, which I am come to find out would cause my ph to drop. I did a big internet search and found one good article explaining the Ph cycle. it can be found here...
