I'm so glad that my tank had cycled. Ammonia and Nitrites 0! So, I added 2 sailfin mollies and 2 more Red Wag Platy's yesterday. That's all I"m gonna put in until the filter has caught up. I can't wait to get my tank fully stocked. I think I'm going to add 5 more Neons next. So anyway...

We gave my mom a Fantail Goldfish for her pond about 4 years ago, and the guy is still happily alive and well! They leave him in there over the winter too ;) A bunch of the other fish in the pond had gotten eaten by a Racoon, but our guy is still going strong.

We may be getting a 65 gallon aquarium. Is that large enough to keep Discus happy and healthy?

I may be inexperienced in all this, but if a product worked so well, I'd be willing to try it next time I have to cycle a tank. It's worth a shot!

Well, the LOGICAL answer is to use it for a lizard habitat... But that would be boring! So, you could break it into pieces and use them to slice your bread :)

How important is the PH of the water? I ask because mine is in the high range as well, but my fish seem to be doing fine...

How long will the cycling process take? I didn't know before joining this board that it was even possible to cycle a tank without fish, my LFS didn't even tell me that it was possible. Had I known I would have done it that way. Unfortunately, now I'm stuck doing it this way.

My cat LOVES to eat some fishfood...so I give him a bit every time I feed the fish (because he DEMANDS it!)...anyway, it's a good way to use up fish food by the time it goes stale ;)

Yup, I picked up some Neons, and the crayfish has eaten one...my hubby saw it eating the fish this morning. I'm taking the sharks and the crayfish back tonight.
