    Lighting Upgrade Questions

Hi, After reading how the arcadia systems improve the aquariums light, I am keen to upgrade from my Juwel (70cm) to the arcadia equivilant. In particular, this post has inspired me to make the change, but I am wondering.. Is it worth only upgrading the tubes? Or is there a good enough benefit...

Changed Standard Juwel Tubes For Arcadia

I was trolling through many posts trying to find out if it would be worth upgrading my lighting system from Juwel to Arcadia and your post is exactly the hard evidence I needed! Thanks for your post, it's greatly apprechiated! Should help improve my Juwel Trigon 190 :) The lighting is abysmal.

    My Trigon 190

That is one lovely aquarium. If it's worth anything..I prefer this setup over your previous one! Excellent work. One of the best tanks I've seen to be honest.

Questions On External Filter For A Juwel Tank

I removed my Juwel filter box the other day, it was quite easy! Get a blunt knife in there and get it out! The tank looks so much nicer without it! I'd probably change the heater too..my Juwel heater broke & cooked my fish.

    Mike's Tank Journal

I believe it has a 1year warranty (mine was just over 1 year old before it malfunctioned). Monitor it and if you believe that it is faulty, by all means - send it back! I however (after my experience & it seems others too) would perhaps not use Juwel heaters..use a visitherm or Hydor instead.

    Mike's Tank Journal

Thanks for the nice comments :) There won't be any more woodchip wallpaper too in the room that the tank is located lol! Extreme makeover in that room now! The tank started it all! Will keep you well posted.

    Mike's Tank Journal

I've managed to find the courage to give fish keeping another go after the horrific result of my first attempt (in essence, a faulty Juwel heater overheated the tank - resulting in killingall my fish). After removing all of the contents after the malfunction and throwing away all Juwel parts...

End Of My Journal *heart Broken*

Oh my god, the exact same thing happened to me on New Years day with my Juwel 200w heater. My thermometer was off the scale, the water was hot to touch - every fish died (two very..very slowly :-( ) My thread about it was over at: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=173935&hl= I'm...

    The Best Of Aquabid

If I could ask two questions: 1) are all of those different colours really natural? 2) is there anything like aquabid available in the UK? The reason why I ask both of these questions is that all I can find so far (on & offline) are the Siamese fighters (blue/red).

Starting Afresh. How To Clean 'dry' Tank?

Thank you very much for the suggestions! Bleech scares me somewhat, so I'm going to attempt the white vinegar suggestion first of all and if that fails - I will go ahead with the 50/50 bleech to water combo. Thank you once again, you've put my mind at rest. P.s. fenwoman - by funny nylon bath...

Starting Afresh. How To Clean 'dry' Tank?

The fish friendly cleaning agent is where I get lost. I assume Vinegar will be OK after I rinse with dechlorinated water & test for ph [and add alkaline if required) - but is there something that would be more effective? :)

Fish At Surface When Light Is Off

My fish used to do this when the light was turned off. It never seemed to be a problem, as they'd get back to 'normal' after 30 minutes of the tube lights being back on.

Starting Afresh. How To Clean 'dry' Tank?

Hi, a week or so ago my fish all died from a faulty Juwel Heater and I have decided to give fish keeping another go (without using Juwel parts)! I cleared all the water (was smelly) and the tank has been left 'empty' for some while now. So I'm about to undertake cleaning the tank (to...

    Best Heater (to Buy)

Thank you so much for the help!!! Copy of my E-mail I've sent to thelivingseas. They're still getting £50 of my money so they should be happy.. Hello, I was wondering if you could help me with a request of mine. Please could I return the Juwel 200w heater (£19.99) - it is completely unused...

    Best Heater (to Buy)

I've just looked around and I'm going to be buying an tetratec EX1200 (external), so could I buy an external Hydor thermal heater and attatch it to the piping? That way I'd have less 'clutter' in the tank :) Would it work with a TetraTec EX1200? I'd have to bypass thelivingseas if I were to buy...

    Best Heater (to Buy)

I'm going to buy a new heater to replace the Juwel one I had (200w). I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions of which one to have? I am swaying (possibly ignorantly?) towards a 'Visitherm' 200w. I am going to be buying from thelivingseas (where I got my tank from) and they have 3...

    Juwel Filter Replacement

Sorry could someone confirm to me if it is right that the two replacement parts with the TetraTec EX series are the carbon & wool parts? Do the balls never need to be changed? (As long as they are cleaned in the tank water).

    Juwel Filter Replacement

Wow that sounds excellent. So according to my souces (you!) I'd only need to replace the section marked 5 on the image attatched? The Tetratec website mentions having to change the floss "When it becomes dirty", how often is that really? It also mentions section 4 (Carbon Sponge) will need...

Where Do You Get Your Aquarium Plants?

Wow this thread is great! I'm going to sound niaeve but I never realised you could buy plants online! :) I've been looking at stockists around my area and have been dissapointed that they rarely have the plants that I want. And on more than one occasion I have been stung with the plants...

    Juwel Filter Replacement

I've been using a Juwel Filter System + Heater for over a year now, and both the pump & heater have malfunctioned or broken at least once whilst I have had them both. Not to mention I found the filter to be pretty poor at keeping the water clean. I was wondering if there is a decent, perhaps...

    Good Evening..

Hey, as my username suggests - my name is Mike. I'm new to FishForum sort of by accident. I've been keeping tropical fish (just the normal type, catfish/clownfish/guppies/harlequin etc) for around a year now, with great success (although my plant efforts have been slightly less successful)...
